Walk me home in the dead of night
I can't be alone with all that's on my mind
So say you'll stay with me tonight
'Cause there is so much wrong going on outside
There was something about seeing her old friend so... satisfied and happy with life that warmed Carolina to the core. To know that good was still out there and that one could achieve that normalcy was reassuring in ways she had not expected, though she did not hope or long for such things herself. At Nadya's quiet laughter her own smile widens, it was all to apparent that the woman was where she was meant to be. "Now that I believe." she replied with amusement in her own voice. The Fae were not something she consorted much with, but she knew many of them were not the sort to mess with. The dark-haired woman seemed to understand her reasons for leaving though, which lifted a weight off her slender shoulders she did not know had been there. After leaving she had experienced more than a little guilt which was quickly compounded by regret and knowing that she wasn't the only one to face such a struggle made her feel lighter. That the leopard was finally able to apologize, even if Nadya brushed it off so easily, helped as well. It was easy to assume people might view her leaving as a slight and knowing that Nadya at least did not meant quite a lot to her.
But the blonde was eager to move the conversation to happier topics, such as how vibrant the other leopard seemed to be, very near glowing. The reason for which became exceptionally clear as she placed her hand on her stomach in that possessive and protective manner that expectant mothers seemed to come by instinctually. Carolina's smile shone brighter as Nadya's words gave credence to her assumption. "That's wonderful, congratulations!" The words bubble up in her excitement, pleased at how much it just seemed right for her friend and that she had found that happiness. It might not be for everyone but being a mother suited Nadya it was easy to see. Remembering through her excitement that Nadya had asked her as well she waved her hand, her life rather mundane by most counts not that she minded. Normalcy was a gift. "Oh not much, I'm living back in River Dale and I was able to get a job bartending on the Ark." Her voice was light and nonchalant but she wasn't sure how the sister of her boss might feel knowing on some level they had put distance between each other.
Still she breezed on, it was not her place to ask those questions. "So with that work schedule you know there isn't much time for anything else, but it keeps me busy." She laughed lightly, her social life outside of work was practically nonexistent, her schedule keeping her asleep when most of the world was awake. It kept her busy though and she enjoyed how lively the Ark was. Ironically it kept her out of trouble at least. Peeling the wrapper back further from around the red velvet treat in her hands she glanced back up at Nadya. "So who is the father, if you don't mind me asking?" She popped another piece of the delicious cake into her mouth, savoring the rich deep flavor complimented by the sweet cream cheese frosting. Oh yes, she would be back for more of these.
