East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was cold, even with her legs drawn up to her chest and her arms wrapped around her petite figure. There was no doubt within Emerance's mind that he was at fault for the frigid air that nipped at her skin. It was evident in the flourished way in which he announced his name - right in time with that convenient 'draft'. Frankly, it was far more like she'd stepped into a walk in freezer then any bit of wind coming in from outside! The brunette could hardly help the way her gaze narrowed at him and yet this was a hill she was more than willing to 'die' on. Though, she was fairly certain there would be no actual death involved. Fairly certain. Her efforts, thus far, however, to convince her newfound foe to learn some level of civility had fallen flat, prompting Emerance to change her tactics to something far more...straightforward. Her inquiry of a distinctly American phrase prompted a scowl upon Frost's features, one that promised he knew well both of the colloquy and it's meaning, even if he wanted to pretend otherwise. Emerance was more then content to inform him exactly what it meant, certain he understood well her implication, before she continued with the insistence that she had no intention of leaving the chair even if it resulted in her lips turning blue and her body fetching a nasty case of hypothermia. If they were going to be dramatic, why not go all in?

The jade hue of her gaze remained entirely steadfast as she stared at the man across from her. There was not an ounce of hesitation with her, Emerance was entirely ignorant of the fear and aversion the rest of her kind had to him. She watched as her cup of pilfered tea was placed back onto the ivory saucer - the beverage entirely within her reach though she knew well that to do so would undoubtedly spurr their disagreement to a whole new level she wasn't yet sure she wished to push things to. Her irises flickered towards the man himself as Frost leaned back within his chair with a look that was somehow more calm then he had been thus far. Her brows furrowed ever so slightly and yet, any observations she might have made were cut off short but the sudden disappearance of the frigid cold that had once so beset her slender frame. It was the sudden presence of heat that caused a hint of instinctual panic within her. It was....hot. Too hot. She hadn't glanced down to notice the presence of those flickering flames until the man in front of her commented upon her chair being on fire. Abruptly, her eyes were cast downward as flames suddenly licked up the legs of her chair.

A scream left Emerance's lips, ensnaring the attention of nearly everyone in the cafe. A cacophony of shouts filled the air around her as the girl immediately climbed up the armchair till she sat upon the back of it. She ignored the other patrons that ran past her - fleeing the flames that Emerance were not entirely sure were real even if they felt very very real. Her finger pointed towards the man across from her, certain that he had everything to do with the current state of her chair. She was vaguely aware of the glimpse of surprise upon his features, though it hardly registered for more than a moment with panic and adrenaline flooding her rather human veins. The last thing she expected, however, was for the barista to suddenly appear at the man's side, appearing entirely calm beyond the look of utter irritation that was etched into every corner of his face. He reached out to grab Frost's ear in a gesture that was entirely chiding. Her attention was hardly on the pair for very long, however, the flames rising until...suddenly...they stopped. Emerance had already begun to scoot as far back on the back of the chair as possible, her feet attempting to climb the back without completely unbalancing herself upon the seat.

Emerance was just beginning to contemplate that perhaps she was over her head when the flames at the bottom of her chair abruptly flared upward. Another girlish scream left her lips, the girl certain they were going to eat her alive all over a chair before, suddenly, they vanished. A soft breath of relief left her lips as, tentatively, Emerance shifted down from her position to slide down and back into the seat properly - her feet firmly planted on the floor. The jade of her gaze turned upward towards the two men that glared at one another across from her, only for Frost to announce that this...Alex...was fired. Oh, how well received that announcement was! Really, the man seemed inclined to push his luck when even Emerance could tell that his barista was no one to be trifled with...
