East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I couldn't help the way my brow arches up when the girl all but scoffs at the fact that I'm not bleeding anymore. Now that I know she's after blood for her vampire daughter, I can see how that can be a...hindrance, but dang if this girl has no sympathy tonight. Does hanging with a vampire make you feel less or something? Maybe she's part vampire? Is that a thing? My mind goes wild as I continue to watch her, especially that hand that's gripping a knife. I have strong enough survival instincts to know I don't want that thing coming anywhere near me. I don't like the ideas she's having if it has anything to do with getting cut or stabbed, though when she suddenly has a smaller knife, I find myself with so many more questions. Where did the other knife go? Wait, do I really want to know? No, not really. Where did the smaller one come from? Was that magic or did she just have it hidden somewhere?

"What are you and why are you so good at....knives?"

I leap to my feet and take a staggering step backwards as she proclaims that its the best she can do. I know exactly where this is going. I throw my hands up in front of me in a "everyone calm down" gesture as I offer a sheepish smirk.

"Let's agree to disagree on that one. I feel the least you can do is not stab or cut me, but I'm guessing that's not how you see it."

I do have a soft heart behind all this rugged charm, so thinking of a woman taking care of her vampire child does tug at all the right strings, or maybe the wrong ones in this case. I ask how it happened and she indulges me with her story. I can see the sadness in her downturned gaze and it pulls a sympathetic scowl onto my features. I would offer a hand on her shoulder in condolences but there's the small issue of her still holding the knife so I stay where I am.

"I'm...sorry."

I know I already said it, but I want her to know that I really mean it. I watch as her gaze moves back to the knife and my shoulders tense in anticipation. Will she take me up on the offer? The sudden disappearance of the latest knife doesn't go unnoticed as she suddenly looks like she just found out she's having a girl. Even the clap of her hands is enough to make me flinch (embarassingly enough) as she leaps to her feet and goes through an actually well thought out plan. Did she do this before or something? I arch a brow, clearly impressed before I finally nod.

"Sounds...easy enough. I can do it."

I take another small step to the side of the door, figuring she has to go that way to get a nurse's attention and I'm still wary of where those knives disappeared to. My leg is starting to throb so I find myself leaning against a counter as I wait for the next part of the plan.
