The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I stick to her shadow, as aware of her presence as she is of mine. While my influence is strongest while I maintain eye contact with the victim, it seems that it'll stick to some people more so than others. Once we're free of the crowd, we pause. She turns to me in sudden excitement to offer up an introduction. I take her hand and brush my lips across the back of it, giving her my most charming smile as I do so. It may be a bit old fashioned of me but what do you expect? I'm almost 200 years old. She makes a nervous sound, her face scrunching up and it's quite adorable as far as human gestures go. At her comment, I smirk. "Pleasure's all mine." When I ask what she'd like, she takes her sweet time deciding but I don't mind. We stand there in the middle of the food stands, her blue diamond eyes seeking out all the vendors. My own nose scrunches up since human food is only so appetizing. Sure, it's not the most nasty of things now but it's not blood either. I'll have to find a victim by tonight. I kind of wish sometimes I remembered what a real hotdog tasted like. I watch the crowd, well aware that the hunter could be hot on my trail even now. I don't see him anywhere so maybe he went off to nurse his wrist. One can only hope. We're mostly surrounded by humans but every once in a while, I see someone looking at me in that way that says they know. I sniff the air and I can smell the magic. Witches, other vampires, even a Were or two. They look at me with either curiosity or disgust. Most witches hate my kind too. Other vampires, it depends on the individual. The women might either look snobby because they don't swing that way or tempting like they want to be on the menu tonight as long as I share. The men mostly are disinterested unless they go a little crooked themselves. I can only hope the woman before me isn't one of those strict vegetarians or a Mormon or something that fasts for weeks at a time. I've never understood those cultures and never will. Instead she seems more like she can't make up he mind. Her eyes look awe inspired and her cheeks are rosy with life. It's actually quite mesmerizing. Finally she decides on a hotdog. I nod. "Your wish is my command." Stepping up to the vendor behind her, I order and hand her the hotdog, waiting until she turns her back to go find a place to sit before I tell the vendor that he doesn't need my money cause he already has so much already. He agrees heartily and I turn to go, leaving him feeling a little dazed and confused in my wake but nothing he couldn't blame on his long day at the festival. I follow after Isolt, waiting for her to find a bench to sit on. Luckily she chooses a bench that's in a quiet area where there's not a lot of people. I sit down beside her, easily throwing my arm across the back like it's no big deal. It's not like I'm trying to touch her or anything. She stares at the hotdog for quite some time. I raise an eyebrow in amusement. Finally she holds it out to me , wanting me to take the first bite. I can see her meaning in the gesture and I smirk before leaning forward, letting my lips wrap around the bread as I take a meaningful but gentlemanly bite of the hotdog. As I chew, I lean back and relax, eyes still alertly watching the other people walk by. Looking back at her after I swallow, I let her know. "Well I'm not dead so I guess he didn't poison it. You're safe." I offer her a crooked smirk in play. She smiles and it's a dazzling smile, even without fangs. At her question, I tilt my head. "Oh come now, that's a boring story. You don't want to hear that. You, on the other hand, are all the rage. I want to hear your story so how about this? Instead of telling it all in one breath, we divide it up into a game of twenty questions. For every question I ask you, you can ask me something but it has to be specific and you can choose how much detail you want to go into. Sound fair?" I wait for her answer before I begin. "Okay, so Isolt, where are you from?" |
