The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Her words bring a scowl to my lips. How can she say this isn't my fight? And then ask me not to worry? As if I could just brush off the fact that she was tormented by her Maker, made to feel worthless. I've been fighting this fight since the moment I met her on the street with that guy who offered his blood to her. She's been shy and modest and doubting herself and inch by inch I've broke down the barriers she built up so that she trusts me. Who knows where we'd be if her Maker hadn't made her feel that way? Who knows who she'd be? My voice is soft, almost soothing in nature, but my tone is deadly serious as I meet her gaze. "You might but I won't. I will always fight for you, Isolt. Asking me not to is like...asking me not to live." At my next words, she smiles, telling me she would do the same and I smile in return. That's when I offer her my keys without any hesitation. I don't care that she hit a giant snake the last time she drove it. I would trust her with what's mine any day. She takes the keys with a radiant smile and reaches for my hand, my fingers entwining with hers gently. For a second, my skin almost feels warm again. I go easily with her as she leads me out of the house and toward the car. I get in the passenger seat, sitting next to her with an eager smile on my lips. I don't ask where we're going, just let her take me where we're going to go. I will admit the suspense is killing me though. As we pull through the gates of a storage rental place, I look at her, quirking a brow up in question. I wait until she parks, looking over as she says that it's weird and asks me to come with her. I smirk softly. "You don't even have to ask. I will always go with you." I follow her lead as we walk through the storage units until she stops at one. Really curious now, I turn to her and she instructs me to close my eyes. I give a dramatic sigh before I close my eyes as instructed, a humorous smirk on my lips to let her know that I'm playing along. I hear the lock rattling then I hear the door opening. I shift my weight, the only sign of impatience I show. When she tells me to open my eyes, i do so without hesitation, watching with ever growing curiosity as she pulls away a dusty old tarp. When she does, my brows lift and my eyes widen in shock and awe, my jaw gaping open as I simply stare at the car. It's a thing of beauty. Sure, it needs some work but pretty much everything looks stock on it. As she steps toward me, my gaze lifts back to her, my jaw closing as she tells me that her brother was planning on restoring it. When she tells me that she wants me to have it, I stare at her for a minute, brows furrowed, searching her gaze. Finally I sigh, running a ahnd through my hair as I look down at the ground for a minute. "I'll only take it one condition." I look up. "Once it's restored, you take the keys. I think your brother would want you to be the one driving it." |
