East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

There was cold, cruel little smile that pulled at his lips.

It was the kind of smile the bad guy gives you when you've said something funny and he's holding a gun to your face. Not the kind of funny that might make him shoot you out of spite, but the kind of funny that strikes them a little bit deeper - a heart to heart kind of funny - the ironic kind, where instead of shooting you it gives them something to think about for a moment, instead. Something to consider. Chuckle at. Ponder. ...But only for that one single little moment.

A villain instead of the white knight, indeed.

Animal's inner beast rumbled with delight. His mouth salivated instantly, like seeing raw meat dangling dangerously close to the mouth of the monster. Oh, how he wanted to flare above her and swallow her whole; to envelope her completely and be every bit of the villain she'd so faithfully stumbled upon. Having this proper little Fae so close, so willing, so tempting of the mortal's word 'fate'... how could he possibly resist? It wasn't every day someone walked so willingly into those beastly little claws of his. Yet here she stood, daring him - stepping into his space and caressing his ego without intent.

He stared at her, gazing with a humored, hungry gaze. He was about as amused with the amount of respect lacking in this conversation as she was. She lacked sense and he lacked manners, though having one over the other was exceedingly more beneficial... in his favor, at least. "...People often need to find excuses for what they really want," Animal cooed as he sidestepped just slightly, his eyes never leaving hers even as she kicked the piece of trash over the building's edge. "But I expect more... from you. Tell me, little...court-dancer..."

He poofed into a thick cloud of black smoke, whizzing quickly from one spot to the next and ending up exceptionally close behind her, dark eyes sparking with curiosity and mischievousness. If the cigarette had been an excuse, then perhaps there was a deeper purpose here. Why had she come tonight? To find him? To make a deal? A bargain, a bet? A plea? Oh, he would be more than happy to help if that was the case. He often did the same for humans, tipping them slowly from one side of the scale to the other... driving them to beg for what they wanted more than what they needed.

But she didn't need an excuse. Not really.

"If not cigarettes... then what?"
