The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I can feel the power emanating from the other hunter as she closes in on the fairie and I do intend to allow her help in taking this guy down because I'm sure I can learn a thing or two from her. Meanwhile the faerie intends to try to take me out first, probably because I'm the least of the two threats. The faerie roars at one point and I glance up from my awkward position to find a knife stuck in his back. The other hunter must have knife throwing skills as well. Good for her. I can just make out the other hunter rushing the other people on the train to safety as the faerie throws his axe again and again, managing to rip apart everything in the train but me for the moment. As I head butt the faerie, he stumbles back and I maneuver out of my trapped position, rolling to the side as the other hunt rushes him with an axe that looks strangely like his own. She swings it accurately and I grin as the axe curves a deep path down the faerie's shoulder. She hisses that's no way to treat a lady and I watch as the faerie throws a knife at her. I can't tell if it landed or now, following the path of her answering blade now as she sinks it into his flesh. As the faerie now comes after her, she sends three more knives his way , all three embedding in his chest but while blood pours like black acid from the wounds, he keeps going, not even stuttering in his approach. I scowl, moving in now with my own blades out, one in each hand, sneaky little daggers to carve with. The other hunter returns to her former form and I catch her glance, giving her a nod of undrestanding as I leap agilely at the shoulders of the faerie. The moment I land, I sink both blades in deep, my ears ringing at the deafening roar he lets out at the assault. As he flings a hand up at me, I bring a blade up and stab right through the palm, pulling it back out as he snatches it back and then I swing my arms out, bringing both deadly blades in toward his neck. They sink in to the hilt on either side, blood squirting out like a fountain as he suddenly pauses and gurgles, blood pouring from his lips as he starts to go down. I pull my knives out and sink them into his back as I propell down to the ground, rolling myself off of him as he falls to his knees then collapses forward onto his face. I land in a crouch beside him, breathing hard from the effort but I've never felt more alive. I can feel his blood on my face and it burns a little as I look up toward the other hunter with a triumphant grin. "That's one way to start the morning." I slowly straighten to my feet, using the sleeve of my shirt to wipe my face as I wipe my blades off and put them back in their sheaths and hold one hand out. "I'm Katarina, but friends call me Kat." |
