The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

"Any man who hates cats has absolutely no business in my presence. Or for that matter, the presence of any woman," I began slowly, raising my gaze from the table to meet this vampire's gaze with a delectable sloth-like fervor as my crystalline met his. My eyes would greet his with a wealth of humor, bright as noon day sun in that the banter with which he provided me obviously amused me, and ensured I was comfortable enough to relax in his company. Surely this was something the vampire was used to; weren't they all? Did most vampires not bask in the revelation that their presence had intoxicating effects on those surrounding them? Thoughtfully, this concept ravaged my brain in the most obvious of fashions as I found myself staring off over the man's shoulder in order to gain some kind of new perspective, as if the environment laced with too many smells of grease and fast food were to be enlightening to some extent. "I tend to think felines are a better judge of character than their canine counterparts. But perhaps I'm biased as I'm a little bit of a cat whisperer..." The last words were spoken in truth. I believed and more likely than not would always believe in the judge of character based from the mind and heart of an animal. Their purity and genuine natures allowed a sincerity I didn't believe possible from the words and minds of humans. Historically, animals had shown me the true nature of those around me who I should have been worried about all along. My uncle, my stepfather... Neither man had acquired any animals in the time I had known them. And if they had any sort of life form around them? Oh, how the lives were squashed like a child's shoe hovering mercilessly over an ant. It is only the amused words lulled from the lips of the man in front of me that my attention changes from torments of the past to muse over the new information I've gathered. Species taste different? Being moderately surprised over this fact brought a gentle smile to my lips once more, blessing my features with that same brightness. It shouldn't have surprised me that blood of different species would tickle the palate differently; eating different meats does the same for us, right? With his further divulgence of specific varieties of blood, a further amused smile grips my lips and pulls their corners upwards. He didn't like werewolves? The briefest flicker of indignance would taunt my eyes, though it would dissipate as quickly as it arrived. Davante, my beloved nuisance, felt much the same. In retrospect, the vampire before me would have reminded me of my brother had he not such a significant distaste for the species... "Basically what you're telling me is that you must have a refined palate for Witch blood which I approve of, and that humans are best described as hamburgers." I nodded, as if affirming these things for myself before leaning back in my chair, spinning my fork in my noodles. "Hm... I am a terrible sport on many occasions! More specifically... Okay, actually I don't have any examples. You'll have to wrack my brain at a later date." |
