East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

"Well what if you're a strict veggie or something and we can't agree on the pizza? What happens then, I think it'd spell disaster." He returned the smile with ease, with a warmth to it that wasn't often revealed in his earlier childish smiles. It was difficult to remain focused, no matter how interesting he found Avi, he was fractious. Spending too much time in one skin had a tendency to do that to him, even if the change merely resulted in lazing around on top of the wardrobe, it still gave him the freedom he needed.

Though he had rambled on after his previous statement, there was no denying the chill in the air. Whether it truly did drop a few degrees, or it was just his perception on the mood between them, he couldn't repress the shudder rippling down his spine â€" every aspect of her posture changed, there seemed to be no relaxed muscles anywhere in her body and her strange grey eyes seemed more the colour of thunderclouds than smoke.

The fire had lost its heat in that moment and he sank further back in the chair â€" uncertain on how to respond, bewilderment registering clear as day on his face. "Well, no..I just..you're" There was no follow up, the clipped monotone voice had him whipped in an instant and he could do nothing but stare in bemusement. He couldn't fully fathom what he'd done that had offended her so greatly, and at the same time he couldn't understand the flood of emotions, he was stung, shocked and a little bit hurt. Offhand flirtatious comments like that didn't often end in such an icy rebuttal, not for him.

He followed her movements as she rose, the business like tone causing him to dip his head briefly â€" feeling like a child, rebuked for a silly mistake that he had made unintentionally. Deflated, he sank back in the chair, smarting at the way she so coolly dismissed him, until at last the shock gave way to petulant anger. His expression darkened, the flesh of his forearms almost visibly rippling, dark rosettes fading in and out of vision as he struggled to control the roiling mass of emotions running through him. Jaw tight, grinding his teeth to attempt to alleviate the itching of his gums and he focused entirely on the fire in front of him, folding his arms tight against his chest, controlling the urges, keeping it hidden.

" It's fine." Clipped, wanting to keep the upper hand, not wanting to be the one simpering and begging. Strained, keeping himself under control at the same time. It was lucky that another customer had chosen to arrive, drawing Avi back to the counter and leaving him to get a hold of himself in private.
