East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

kissing death and loosing my breath
Not a word had left the young woman's lips about that fateful night. She had told no one about it - at least, no one who hadn't been there. The day after or so, she had briefly discussed the entire affair with the specter that now haunted her side - the one that refused to leave her despite her affinity's push upon him. Serafina could only suspect that it was his affinities in life that allowed him to so haunt her. It had been a rather short lived conversation between the girl and her undead mentor - something along the lines of a snarky comment that she had managed to catch herself quite the man, followed immediately by the young girl snapping back that she seemed to be surrounded by those kind of men. The pointed look hadn't escaped the ghost and his rich, baritone voice had laughed at her with that echoing tone that seemed to reverberated within her skull. In truth though, it wasn't as if Serafina had anyone else to confide in either. It seemed of late that the poor girl had been alone more often then not. Raven had her own affairs to attend to and with Davante refusing to speak to her and Azrael off kill her kind, her household had been dark and still. Like always, the young witch threw herself entirely into her work - letting it become the thing that filled her life up until tonight.

A small shrug crossed Serafina's shoulders as she listened to her companion, her grey eyes slowly tracing the male's features. "There's nothing wrong with living your life on the line, I suppose. It certainly keeps things interesting." It wasn't as if Serafina could say the same. Her life was dull and moderately safe - her own fault surely and yet here they were even if they were so starkly different. Her gaze briefly flittered away, watching the shadow of her companion as he toyed with the umbrage from the glasses. Serafina hardly hesitated to polish off the vodka that sad in the cup in front of her, borrowing strength from the liquor before she dove right into the heart of what had dwelled so deeply on her mind - even if the entire effort was made to seem as nonchalant as possible.

Her eyebrows arched ever so slightly as she listened to him. A soft snort left her nose and slowly the young woman leaned back on her chair, her fingertips fully embracing her now empty glass. "You're right - everyone does have skeletons and demons." She turned just enough to look at him dead on, "What makes you think you're so different from anyone else? Murderers have relationships all the time - who says you're somehow different from all of them?" There was a small wave of her hand as if they were discussing nothing more casual then the weather outside of the dark building.

In truth, tenderness and compassion were something that too came difficult for the young girl. There were some things that she was always vulnerable to but her ability to care generally stopped at the homeless. She mirrored the same apathy that the world had so often shown her, leaving the young girl entirely ill at ease when it came to her emotions. She offered Davante a small shrug of her shoulders, insisting in an almost childlike fashion, "I was fine." Fine. She always insisted she was fine. A word that brushed off every sense of concern even if she was anything but. Hell - she hated admitting that she was anything but. For all the horrors of his world that she had seen, Davante too had been given the rare opportunity to see Serafina out of her comfort zone - to see her vulnerable. Never the less, her grey eyes rolled ever so slightly at the notion of him driving her home, her gaze shifting to the glass in front of her as she turned it upside down on the bar. "Well, in that case I hope you're intending to buy me more. There should be a whole pyramid here by the time I'm done." She was being sarcastic really. Serafina had never intended to get entirely wasted - not here and frankly she wasn't sure the point in condoning it anyways. What could would come of it? Where did they even go from here?
