The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The Cat's Meow wasn't a new environment. Throughout the decades that consequently morphed into centuries, I had spent my fair share of time in dark and ... how do you call it, not dingy - ... But something more of the same. I had spent time in places that no one in their right mind wanted to spend time in, yet â€" here I was with the exposure similar to a girl shimmying out of her clothes to pay her college tuition. Shouldn't there be some parable, here, that tells a tale of the underdog who graduated from her stripping job to one she could be proud of? I don't think so. With no real taste for happy endings, I hadn't minded spending time in similar places, often at the expense of my dignity but for the good of my King for some reason or another. In service of a Kingdom I stopped believing in. With an ease that mimicked the young woman in front of me, I settled into the chair opposite her without any hint of carefree laziness. Instead, I retained what regality I held myself with; my legs crossed in a delicate way with my slender hands clasped gently and placed in my lap. Nadya was looking at me with something of a predatory glint in her eyes â€" did she look at all new employees this way? Though un-phased by the expression, my eyes remained level with hers in order to remind her that I was not one of the underdog children who showed up with a need for fast cash. Instead, I had a set of abilities that might generate profit, and instead of wasting my time in the city it was far better to use them for such. "Men seem to have it out for us Fae. Something about the delicate wings and the like..." My words weren't offered with any taste besides honey. Sweet and almost as if I agreed with Nadya that faeries did make good dancers â€" there were a great many of us that were little more than sprites, tempting our own fate with perishable exterior. But me? Perishable? No. If the woman wanted another dancer to even out her line-up of excusable dancers, then perhaps I could oblige her. Instead of following that train of thought to ill-trained employees, the initial level gaze I had pegged Nadya with softened with her admission that abilities were limited within the establishment. "That is a pleasant surprise. I would ask that, if given a position of security-related employment, my abilities remain intact; I am more than happy to comply regardless, though." What an unattainable ideal; to operate an establishment free from the restrictions of species and racism so rife within the limits of Sacrosanct? Had Vadris himself heard the woman speaking, he might have shuddered in disgust. But me? In an attempt to guise myself from any past association with such biases, I nodded as if I understood. Perhaps dance was something that could bring people apart, but did people and bears dance in the same way? No. It was likely that the notion wasn't something I could agree with, but without giving this away I gently nodded as if I could. I had, in fact, asked the prompting question. I wasn't prepared for a thoughtful answer; instead, I had expected a retort dripping with the need and desire for monetary gains from this venture. Instead, the young woman looked emotive in her desire for peaceful entertainment. My eyebrows rose very slightly in response, but I was quick to nod my head and let the waterfall of white blonde hair drip over my shoulders as I accepted her offer. "The sooner the better."
