i used to rule the world
seas would rise when i gave the word
Despite the centuries that passed before Alexander's blue-green eyes, he never seemed to find himself failing to place the features of a face. Hers were no different. He remembered her as clear as day, even though nearly a month had passed since he found her starving outside of his cafe, her clothes dirty and bloody, her blue eyes staring with a large, unbidden want at the pastries that had lined his shelves. It seemed as if she had come quite a long way from that. After all, she was now dress in crisp, clean clothing, free of blood and far less timid then he had initially saw her as. He cleared his throat in an effort to get her attention, watching as the woman turned to face him, moving from the middle of the aisle as she did so. Recognition distinctly flittered across her delicate features at his own facade, remembering him perhaps just as much as he did her. He listened as a single syllable left her lips before she paused just long enough to chuckle. Slowly, his eyebrow rose and yet, Alexander made no effort to rush her, instead standing still and silent as he was so known for, waiting with patience that centuries had forced him to bare.
He watched as she made an effort to regain her composure, his blue-green gaze momentarily meeting hers before following hers' to the hands that were clutched in front of her. Her words of gratitude, however, failed to stir any sensation of conviction within him, however. His shoulders shrugged ever so slightly,
"Considering you did little more than stare at my window and take your 'hasty exit', I'm not sure your thanks is particularly warranted." He responded, his voice surprisingly blunt despite the decided lack of anger or annoyance. Alexander merely saw no reason for her gratitude. After all it wasn't as if he had actually provided her with food or shown her how to create the decedents that she had so yearned for - at least not then anyways.
"So did you still want to see how they were made or was your thanks the only thing you came here for?" Alexander continued, offering the woman the same gesture of kindness he had given her that day the two had first met.
