The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

One second she's there, the next she's ... gone! Not just gone. She's fucking disappeared into thin air and Darien is both frightened and confused. He makes an embarrassing short soft squeal (he was genuinely scared) and stands there, waiting, listening. He looks around to see if anyone else saw this, but what people were around, they were mindless drones going on about their lives.
Did I really just see this? Was she even real?
Looking back, cautiously, he takes a few steps closer to where she was once standing, looking deeply and seeing just concrete and brick. Nope, no person. "Are you fucking serious? What the hell?" He's resorted to talking to himself as he continues to study the area and like a child, he concludes the only way to know for sure would be to touch it. His free hand reaches out, but before he's going to be feeling around where her shoulder was, a disembodied yell comes straight for him from the side. That embarrassing squeal from before? Yeah, this was a far more embarrassing one.
He jumps back a few feet, nearly trips and falls on his ass (but doesn't thankfully) and his heart is about two seconds from just jumping out his throat and bailing on him. "What!?!? No one sent me! Jesus Christ, lady! No one sent me, I promise!" He's pleading, staring at nothing, talking to the air. He doesn't realize how ridiculous he must have looked. His hands raise up a little, to about where his chin is (still holding that letter he was meant to deliver) and starts talking with a tone on the edge of a stutter. "I just ... you're not like the others, like me, pretty fucking obvious now. Please don't hurt me! I'm not gonna hurt you! I just asked for a damn cigarette first off!"
Darien found his weakness often his strength. If you truly are feeble and pathetic, people usually ease up. Or they use it to their advantage and right now, he felt like she was one of those who had some reason to beat the living shit out of him .. just because. "Please, whatever you are doing, is freaking me out. I feel like I am talking to voices in my head." If I'm gonna get mugged or have my ass kicked, at least let me see it. "Fuck, I knew you ere something too, something not human, and I just wanted to be friendly, lady!"
