East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Without a doubt Yejide's heart was aching to hold her daughter again, even though her daughter was technically not a child by Earth standards Yejide felt very much the mother she was. By being here maybe she was able to finally protect one of her children, keep her safe as she hadn't been able to keep her sweet Sylvia safe. A soft smile of comfort splayed itself over her lips as she could read the excitement in her daughter's words, discussing her lessons of the worlds around them, of her keeper's cooking and how she was learning to play baseball by one of the boys who had become a star, although she didn't mention how he- not born directly within, had become one of them. Something tragic Yejide was certain.

Lifting the cup to her lips and blowing softly Yejide finally was able to enjoy the tea that had been brought to her. Spring was slow coming this year, personally she couldn't wait until it was no longer an issue of bundling up in so many layers that only her eyes would be seen. She needed the warm winds and the open skies; she needed to feel peace when she looked up into the vast openness. Placing the cup back down she reached for the letter again, her eyes following the words across the paper.

Perhaps another reason Yejide enjoyed sitting towards the back was because there weren't as many distractions, the smell of food wasn't as overwhelming back by the fire, she could concentrate on the tea and her letters. Reaching across the table to snagged a notebook and a pen and then sat back in the wooden chair, starting her own letter back to her daughter. It wasn't the same, and Yejide wished she could actually embrace and kiss her daughter and let the light that illuminated from their bodies engulf them completely. There was no hiding strong emotions as a star-faerie, unless of course someone held a charm as she did, something that concealed the fact of what she was for safety.

Mid-way through her letter the smell of cooked and seasoned meat was strong, lifting her head slightly Yejide peered around the room to see where this was coming from. Her senses are becoming heightened- as fear has taught her to be distrustful of most of her situations now. Her body jolts as she feels something brush against her ankle, and looking down she glimpses a thick tail curling by the legs of her chair. Yejide begins to scoot her chair away from the table when the unmistakable sound of an animal rumbles out, she can feel eyes shifting towards her and the blood drains to her toes for all of a second.

The sound of her heart thumping in her ears and her slow breathing is all that is evident to her, not the dropping of a tray of glasses, chairs scooting away and people scurrying out. She is ignoring the hushed whispers and the sound of people trying to clean up and yet stay away from her table. Bending down she is in a squatting position, ready to spring up and away if it is one of the creatures that had been hunting her, but the sight of this young man- no longer an animal, fingering the broach she had purchased this very evening was not something she feared naturally.

Releasing a breath that had been held in her chest Yejide moved into a kneeling position instead, brushing her dark hair away from her face she gave a chuckle of relief, "I'm glad you're only you." Her voice is soft, her eyes still taking in his form carefully, she doesn't see the scarification or the wild eyes of those hunters, but she does see a creature who is perhaps not all there. A creature that has his hands wrapped around the broach, his mouth moving and his voice low and muttering nothing but nonsense, he is not something that this star-woman has encountered in all her years of wandering. Tentatively she reaches out a hand, "here," her fingers curl slightly as she is not feeling so threatened now, "I'll show you why I picked this out." A gentle smile that has always been so natural for her pushes forward on her lips, it's not a teeth barring smile but it's not unwelcoming.

Perhaps assuming he'll hand it back to her is foolish but she's not trying to trick him, she'd rather try to understand why he has come and found the gift she picked for Asgi, maybe showing him why she chose it will have him show her why he wants it.
