The chatter from around the dimly lit, hardly busy bar had all but faded when Amelia speaks. The warm glass of scotch no longer felt so sharp against his palate. It was smooth and moved easily down his throat now that it was well lubricated from the quick succession of drinks that came before. Dareios was happy to unwind, even in front of a stranger. It wasn't like him to be so relaxed and lackadaisical in front of someone he didn't know, and especially in public. But he was in an unusual mood tonight. And he wasn't ready to go home yet. So Dareios blatantly ignores the buzzing vibrations that comes from the Apple Watch strapped to his cold, undead wrist, and the messages that light up occasionally on its screen. The first was a reminder of the hour from one of his security cronies perched outside. The next was an email from his publicist. Then another. Then one from a city commissioner. Then one from Aaron about an auction upstate this weekend. And on and on. It never stopped. The vampire takes a second to sip at his drink again, taking his time to fully assess her question. "You're very astute." He says in a complimentary way, eyeing her with a friendly smirk across his lips. He could tell Amelia was naturally shy. Not that meant she wasn't outgoing --- she was talking to a stranger at an off hour in an empty bar, no less -- but she wasn't the bubbily type, the one who was naturally drawn to conversation. Dareios was fine with that. "I'm Dareios Auerbach, the newly elected Mayor of Sacrosanct." He said in his best, boastful, broadcasting voice. He hoped Amelia would get a kick out of it, or at least, it would make light of what usually was an awkward interaction, once someone learned who he was. "Hopefully you voted for me and not the other guy." He said with a gentle wink of his dark, beady eye. Dareios Auerbach | Vampire | Vinyl |
