North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

She did wonder what would bring Anastasia into a library but then, she knew practically nothing about the other woman. Who's to say she didn't like to read? It wasn't in Alexis' nature to pry, but she did want to learn more about the woman, especially given the special relationship she seemed to have with Alexander. Alexis had never known herself to be the jealous type but then, she'd never had anyone to be jealous over before. This was an alien feeling to her. Anastasia took her time turning around to face Alexis, though she had quite the amused look in her eyes when she did, like she already had thoughts forming in her mind about her. Alexis found herself itching to have Alexander's gift to read minds, if only for this instant. But of course, that wasn't meant to be. She wondered if Anastasia even suspected that her and Alexander might be more than friends, as he'd so labeled her when the two women met. She still didn't understand why he said that. Was he ashamed to be with her? Should she be more discreet about them? What if she didn't want to be?

Anastasia purred her name and Alexis' brow arched up, unsure how to to react. She turned her head to see the librarian glaring and she had the decency to duck her head sheepishly but Anastasia spoke again as if it never happened, talking in the same volume. Alexis was sure they were going to get kicked from the library any second. She could hear the distaste in Anastasia's voice when she spoke of the library and Alexis shrugged as she went to put the book up she was glancing at. "I don't know, just idle reading really." She looked up as Anastasia commented on the book, telling her to try another book instead. Alexis glanced at the large book in her hand almost warily before she reached out and took it, looking at the cover in fascination. She glanced back at Anastasia, curious when she mentioned having read it in her youth. It looked very well worn but then she knew Alexander was old so it only made sense that Anastasia must be as well. She nodded. "Thanks. I'll...check it out." She jumped a little when the librarian shushed them but Anastasia looked in the elderly lady's direction and it was like a sudden tension in the air. The librarian hurridly went back to her desk and Alexis gazed back at Anastasia in curiosity.

The woman's gaze softened, something unexpected, as she turned to Alexis, telling her they should get out of there if that was all she needed. Chancing one more glance toward the librarian, Alexis nodded in agreement, offering a smile before they turned toward the doors. Then Anastasia asked about her date and Alexis' gaze snapped back to her in surprise. "You know about that? I...didn't know he told you." She said idly. Since Alexander had introduced her as a friend, she figured that would mean not mentioning anything about any dates they might plan. She didn't know what to think at this point.
