Crosshairs at the crosswalk

"Tick, tock, tick, tock," the clock drearily droned on as Ludo laid sprawled out on his worn leather couch, awaiting some sort of sign. "Ugh, why?" he groaned, spinning himself around, head hanging off the front of the couch with his feet now raised toward the ceiling. Perhaps the head rush would be the highlight of his night. As he laid there, the lightness in his head growing more and more prominent, he wondered if anyone his age still celebrated Halloween. "Maybe I'm too old. Shouldn't there still be a party scene though? I mean, this is the city," Ludo inwardly asked himself. Having just moved to the heart of Sacrosanct, he found that it was like living with a sea of people, yet there seemed to be a bubble that cut him off from forming any sort of connections with others. He knew he was charismatic, but all the strangers around him wanted to remain strangers.

Remembering when he first arrived he tried introducing himself to his neighbors, but no one answered the door. There were plenty of times he saw people peeking "secretly" behind the curtains, suspicious of the new gentleman at their doorstep. This was completely different from the Italian suburb he grew up in, where you could hear the residents bellowing across their lawns asking how their family was doing, how their day was, and so on. "Well, whatever," Ludo exclaimed, lifting himself up off the couch and headed to his closet to whip up a quick and simple costume. Shuffling through his wardrobe he found that his fashion was that of a modern-day greaser. "Huh, I guess it works," clicking his tongue, he tilted his head as he created the perfect costume, which was quite literally what he'd wear day to day.

As he combed back through his hair to polish off the look, he turned on his smartphone, seeing if there were any happening places for the Halloween evening. Scrolling through the event page, he noticed that there was something taking place in the north side of the city. Brushing past the coffee table and reaching for his keys, he exited his place and shuffled along down the side walk, fully awake thanks to the chilling breeze that accompanied the bright moonlight illuminating the street. "Maybe I could even go hunting tonight," he suggested to himself as he made his way into the swarm of people dressed in eccentric costumes buzzing around like purposeful worker bee's.

Pushing his way through he stops before the cross walk, waiting for the sign to show the blinking figure. Lazily scanning the area, he suddenly shifts his eyes forward and notices a woman stepping out into the street. Glancing back up at the sign he sees that it is still the solid red hand. "Lady! Ay! LADY!" he calls out as he hastily launches forward ready to grab the petite woman. Suddenly there is sound of screeching tires coming to a halt, followed by a blaring car horn. That caused the woman to fall backwards into the crowd. Before seeing if the fragile woman was okay he see's the driver flip the lady off, rolling down the window and screaming at her.

As soon as Ludo saw the finger fly his blood boiled. "AY, VAFFANCULO! (fuck you)" he shouts, darting over to the angry driver. He slammed his leg against the driver's door and grabbed the man by the sleeve of his shirt exclaiming, "You think you're tough, yeah? Yelling at a woman like that? Ay? You better shut your mouth and head on your way. Only inches away from the now scared shitless driver, he shoves the man's arm back into the car and retracts his footing from the door. Casually walking away, there is a shoe sized dent now sported on the side of the car. "Stronzo (dick)," he mutters, as he makes his way back to the sidewalk where he overheard the petite woman apologizing profusely to the woman she bumped in to. "Miss, are you alright?" he inquires, gazing at the tomato faced woman standing before him.
