It seemed he wasn't the only one too lazy to pick up a razor or maybe the other man just liked having a beard. Christian just didn't feel motivated to do a lot of things lately, including shaving, though he did make an effort to trim it a little sometimes so he didn't look like a homeless man. Anyone who knew him some time ago before Keith would know this wasn't like the normal Christian. He used to stay clean shaven and always dress nice. He was charming and bright and friendly to everyone he met. Then he met Keith and his whole world spiraled out of control. He fell head over heels for the other warlock. They were perfect for each other, yin to the other's yang. He couldn't imagine a life without him...and then that fateful day happened. Christian refused to talk about it with anyone, even his own coven or the grief counselors they offered to him after the accident. He couldn't talk about it and he wasn't sure he ever would be ready to. This was the new version of Christian. This Christian was more rugged and stand offish. He believed in one night stands but no attachments. No feelings involved. He mostly stuck to women despite his bi tendencies because it was easier that way. He didn't have to worry about looking at a woman and thinking about Keith. It was easier to stay unattached that way. Men were dangerous though. This man was already looking dangerous with that warm smile and those friendly eyes. He could also taste magic in the air. Another warlock? Just his luck. Was he with The New Eden or another coven in town? Or was he on his own? Christian knew it wasn't his business to ask. The man reached out to shake his hand. He had a firm handshake. Christian returned it and released his hand. He gave his name as Killian Carrick. Christian dipped his head politely. "Pleasure's all mine, Killian." His brow raised at the man's accent. "You must be Irish." He said for light conversation. When his hand touched Killian's, he felt the spark of magic and it confirmed his fears. He was sure Killian could pick up on his as well. He lowered his voice in case others were listening. "The sun is warm today." It was a random comment to anyone else, warlock or not. The only ones who would know it for what it was were members of The New Eden. It was his test to see if Killian belonged to his coven or not. He would know an answer once Killian responded, however he might. It wouldn't change his opinions of him or anything. He just wanted to make sure who he was talking to. |
