I swear I don't know why I bother sometimes. I've spent most of the day trying, and failing, to teach Kohl the mechanics of the balance of a knife and how shape, length, material the blade's made of, etc. have to do with it. I could tell from the beginning that he wasn't really listening, especially when he decided to take his shirt off halfway through my lesson, that knowing smirk on his face a hint that he knew exactly what he was doing. Since then, he's been trying to distract me, moving himself just so and bringing up food every few minutes, hoping that I'll give up and oblige him. He knows what he does to me, my skin heating up the minute his torso is present. None the less, I plow through the rest of my lecture, only stopping when I hear the horn honking outside. I check my watch. Right on time, of course. Azrael is nothing if not punctual, especially when it comes to a hunt. If only other could share that excitement. I get up, stretching my arms up over my head, teasing Kohl right back with that barest sliver of flesh that shows around my stomach area when my black tank top lifts up. He gets up with that gleam in his eyes and I let out a giggle, running for the door but I knew he would beat me there.

Within two seconds, he's got me pinned to the door frame, giving me that smoldering look while his fingers trail along the hem of my pants, leaving flames along my skin in his wake. I know what he's doing.

"You could still come along if you change your mind."

I tilt my head, batting my lashes at him but he only snorts and moves some hair out of his blue gold eyes. I know he won't change his mind but I am a little disappointed that he's staying behind. At least I know he'll be out of danger. I inch toward the door but he puts his hand on the wall next to my head, holding me in place. I smirk.

"You're going to make me late."

I glance toward the door, sure that Azrael's counting down the seconds past the time we decided he'd pick me up. It was an odd request from the council, hunting with someone else. I wasn't that impressed with Azrael at the masquerade party. He was too distracted by a witch, of all things. I hope he knows what we're being told to hunt today. I'm a little nervous about the plan. I don't mind bloodshed when it's warranted but sometimes I think the council is more about taking down all other supernaturals, not just the dangerous ones. Like this. Who cares that the witch is doing good in the money business? She's not killing anyone that I know of so why should I care? I think the only reason I decided to go along was to tyr to cut back on deaths. I do have a moral sense of right and wrong, after all. Finally I manage to get away from Kohl, teasing him with a kiss on the cheek before I brush past him and out the door before he can do anything else. I can feel his eyes on me as I walk away so I make sure to move my hips in that special way I know he likes. I'm wearing tight black leather pants, so it should be easy enough to show off what I've got. What can I say? I like black.

I make it to the car, scowling when I notice that Azrael is glaring at Kohl. I clear my throat, nodding toward the road.

"Shall we?"

At his comment about Kohl, I glance out the window, finding Kohl's silhouette still in the doorway, still shirtless. I feel myself smirking a little.

"He's still in training."

I offer back off handedly. I know it's not going to satisfy Azrael but it'll have to do. It's the only way I've been able to keep the council off my back, to convince them I'm training Kohl how to use his abilities. I look back at Azrael as he hands me an envelope. I pull the papers out but I already know what's on them. I've been studying them from my laptop for weeks now, getting memorized with the case. I always like to know all the facts. I can hack into anything I set my mind to so I've had this information way longer than the council wanted me to. I listen idly as Azrael starts explaining. I don't like the wicked gleam in his eyes, like he's eager to do anything the council tells him to. To each their own. We drive in silence most of the trip before he pulls up in front of the Witchery. I remember it well from the masqerade party. I scowl. That night has a lot of memories tagged to it. I'm sitting there alone in my memories, forgetting where I am until my car door opens. I blink up at Azrael, having forgotten he was there until now. I slowly step out of the car, composing myself as I feel for my knives. I know where each and every one of them are and I damn well know how to use them. I step past him without another look, heading toward the door.

I hear his comment about the name but it only earns him a shallow smirk. I'm not really feeling the humor right now. All I can think about is how this is going to go down and how a part of me would like to be back with Kohl, curled up in his arms, safe and warm. I brush such thoughts away though as we walk through the door. As a man near the desk moves toward us, I watch with surprise as Azrael pulls out a gun like it's natural and shoots the man. I barely move, my breath seemingly stopped as the man tumbles to the floor and the girl behind the desk lets out a shriek and runs out the other door. Only now do I move my hand to where one of my knives hides, watching the doors now, ready and waiting. At his comment, I scowl, offering in a distasteful voice.

"You didn't have to kill him."
