North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart,
But the welcome I receive at the restart.

This shifter poses an interesting question. And a smile creeps over Dareios' lips as he weighs it. To humans, the moment they realize he's a vampire, they're terrified. To the supernatural, they find him a fool.

Dareios thought too much. His mind, you see, is always turning, finding ways to improve his business, or his home, or when he was bored, improve himself. He was always planning or thinking about what was the next thing he wanted to learn. He was an excellent chef, though he didn't consume the perishables others do. He can speak seven languages fluently. He was an avid reader with an impressive library collection back in Anacosta Heights. He was a music collector. A wine connoisseur. And the list goes on.

Dareios thought a lot, and for the most part, enjoyed the value it added to his life.
But he didn't know why he jogged.

Perhaps on some level, it grounded him. It reminded him where he came from. Humans were so low in the food chain these days, though they all (even this shifter here) emerged from their lineage. It was an interesting conundrum. Tragic, really. Dareios would never flat out say he missed being human. But there were certainly aspects of humanity he missed, things that could not be replicated by expensive track shoes and spraying himself down to mimic sweat.

"I guess I just enjoy it." He says, shrugging his wide shoulders and sliding his hands into the airy pockets of his slim-fitting work out pants. "It gets me out of the cript, per say."

Dareios notices the ill-fitting clothing but doesn't say much. He certainly went from being a large horse to a slender man. "Why do you prance around town as a horse at this hour? Should we be concerned that someone is following you?"

While this interaction has been amusing, the realization that this stranger could pose a threat in some way, began to mount. Not that Dareios was ready to abandon this peculiar fellow just yet, but he certainly wasn't interested in finding another possibly dangerous distraction tonight. There was too much work to do. "Dareios." He said in exchange, taking the man's hand briefly in his own.
