I find myself wondering sometimes if other immortal species get lonely sometimes. I knwo that I've had my fair share of lovers and even those more serious. I've even offered immortality to a handful of those I found dear but you see where it got me. Either they rejected my offer or took it and ended up growing bored of me anyway. At least that's what I tell myself. I've never gone up and asked a fairy if they wish they could find someone who lives just as long as they do. I've seen plenty of happy fairy couples. If they stick to tradition, a couple is matched up from birth to make the monarchy stronger or join together two allied monarchies. Luckily I got away from my home monarchy before they could try to get me hitched up. I've never stopped to think about other species though. Weres pretty much age the same as humans and of course humans have their own share of love problems without the immortality. Hunters can live forever and I've seen a few of those hitched up with each other. I guess it makes life easier when you always have someone to watch your back. Vampires...well, I always thought of them as soulless creatures not worthy of having love anyway so why bother thinking about it? Now that I know Amelia, I do wonder if she gets lonely though. Does she just take human pets, choose not to get attached, or has she had her heart broken as well? I glance at her leg off and on, a small scowl of worry tugging at my lips. I know vampires are supposed to be quick to heal. I guess I just figured it'd be one of those "heal right before my eyes" sort of things. I don't know how that crap works. Does she have to feed for it to heal like that or is it a process anyway? It feels impolite to ask. She insists on paying me back somehow so I smile and nod. "Fine, I'll take your offer of dinner. Next week sounds good. My only condition...I'm picking you up. No arguments. If I'm going to let a woman pay for my food then I might as well give her the ride to the restuarant. At least then I feel like a little useful." I finish off my drink and stand up. "Well I should probably get going so you can rest. I'd like to see both of those pretty legs intact next week, deal?" I smirk. |
