The Ripper

William Jack Holloway

What was he even doing here?

In the past nearly two hundred years of his life, there was one thing that William knew for certain: to stay away from other Hunters at all costs. He couldn't trust them. He couldn't be sure that they wouldn't turn him over to the Council and any bit of his freedom would be ripped away from him. The Council wanted him. Will certainly wasn't naive. The Council wouldn't send Hunter after Hunter after him if they didn't want him so desperately. And sure, he'd evaded all of them so far. He was powerful, even without his powers. Either that, or just fucking lucky. But still, even with all of that luck, he had still found himself within Alexander's office simply because he'd wanted to follow Anastasia. Because there was something about that girl... She infuriated him. And yet he couldn't help but think about how... beautiful she was.

So it was that that had him walking across those Northern streets in the direction of the Witchery. He wanted to see her. Even if it was just for a second. He couldn't identify what it was that so pulled him to the other Hunter. The idea that he might so... like her was something he was certainly not willing to admit. Not out loud, and definitely not to himself. No. He didn't like the redhead. Even though she was beautiful... and he couldn't get her off his mind... No. Liking a Hunter was stupid. Liking a Hunter with even a vague connection to the Council was a fucking death wish. And yet he found himself standing outside the Witchery. He should leave. He should go right back home and stay there and stay well away from Anastasia.

But he couldn't do that. Instead, he just stood outside in that frigid cold and debated what exactly he should do. He knew, of course, what he should do. He should turn around and leave and...

The sound of the woman's voice had him turning instantly, his eyes wide with surprise as he regarded her. Of course she would know that he was here. Of course he wouldn't be able to be sly about this at all. He shoved his hands into his pockets as he leaned off the wall, giving a shrug to the woman. "It's not that cold. You forget that I'm English," William teased as he stood up all the way. "Though, you are Russian. I'm sure you're used to much worse." He chuckled to himself as he regarded her. "I wanted to see you." He commented, and though his tone hinted at the sincerity of how... much he wanted to spend time with her... that familiar smirk remained on his features.

Still, despite the command that she so offered him, he didn't move towards the door in the slightest. No, he had no intention of going inside with her. That wasn't why he was here. He had wanted... he'd rehearsed. And now the words felt heavy on his lips even though he knew exactly what he wanted to say. "Anastasia," William reached out, his fingers catching on the hem of her sleeve as he reached for her. He smiled gently at her. She truly was exquisite. "I was here... I was hoping that perhaps I might have the pleasure of your company for this evening. Perhaps we could get a drink?" He offered her a pleasant grin. "I promise, I can be a perfect gentleman." Who was he to deny it at this point? He liked her, and he wanted to spend that time with her.

But darling -- it's only human nature.
