There was, in that time they had shared together, several facets of the Hunter's nature Frost had come to discover. Alexanders talent for control, or at least, to appear as if he was entirely in control and utterly unconcerned with nearly every situation a near defining factor of the man. One Frost himself had attempted to disturb if only to see how far the Hunters tolerance for his steed might go. Alexander so far having proven decidedly unshakable. Xerxes however, or at least his attempts to get the both of them killed seemed to rile the other man entierly. This by far the strongest display of emotion the stallion had ever seen his companion display, his own head tilted ever so slightly at the sight. How...curious. Whatever hate he possessed for Xerxes evidently more intense then even Frost himself had suspected. Alexanders nails digging into the palms of his own hands with irritation and yet for now at least Frost remains decidedly silent on the matter, merely watching his companion in silent contemplation. It was a shame, truly, that Alexander was not a little more....lively more often. Frost entirely assured the hunter would be significantly more interesting were this side of himself displayed a little more frequently and yet that such passions of his personality existed at all were of intrigue to the stallion all the same, his own affinity reaching out to embrace the man if only slightly, Frost entirely content to peer into those thoughts, lip quirking slightly in some vague indication of pleasure at exactly what he saw. Those uttered words confirming just as much. Alexander seeming to settle, if only slightly, as Frost seemed to distract him from his internal rage.

There was a part of that stallion that remained reluctant in a fashion to offer the Hunter information on each and every one of his affinities and yet, he supposed, Alexander would either find out in time else already held some ability to know. Frost finding himself inclined to trust his companion on some level. Alexander perhaps one of the few beings he deemed.....significant enough to afford any level of trust too. The Hunter shifting into some silent contemplation as Frost's own attention drifted downward once more to eye that open space and the occasional vampire who pass through below. They were primitive, to his understanding, quite possibly centuries old and living much as they would have done then. Some vague hint of curiosity passing his features before his attention returned to his companion, Alexander expressing preference for him to remain in that animalistic form if only to utilise those sense animals alone remained capable off- along with his use as a pack horse. A somewhat dubious look passing his features at the notion Alexander still intended for him to continue to carry that equipment. Though, in rather a display of...comradery the stallion simply nodded. Perhaps on occasion he was content to argue and yet here and now even Frost is given to understand the importance of the situation. Battle was battle. The rules changed. The stallion as determined as his companion to survive. Querying instead Alexander's choice over those human lives that existed.

That the Hunter was determined to at least try and rescue them was hardly surprising and yet how pleasing it was to be in the company of another whom simply understood that they may well be needed for fodder in the same moment. The practicality of his companion was refreshing, if nothing else, Frost perhaps as well known for his emotionless existence as much as for his cruelty, or at least- what others perceived as cruelty. Frost entirely assured rather a number of his actions were simply necessary- others too weak to perform them. There was little time for compassion in war, that final goal far more important than merely attempting to rescue every single soul within. That hand brushing against his hide sees the heavy stallion step forward at last, content to lead the way, ears pricked forward atop his head- shifting to assure Alexander in vision of his single good eye. A soft snort of surprise vibrating within him at the sudden appearance of that weapon and yet for now he hardly complained.

Sometimes, I almost like you.

It is a sudden, offhanded comment and yet one Frost makes no move to elaborate on, heavy, feathered feet pressing against that snow and slick ice beneath. His steps careful, measured, leading the way deeper into those caverns as silently as a creature of his size remained capable, that tunnel eventually reaching a crossroads of sorts- splitting into three separate tunnels now. A soft snort of derision echoes into the air, the horse paused to examine each in turn, ears pricked upward before choosing the furthest tunnel.

This one smells the most like human, the middle one smells of almost nothing, the first smells of fresh air, I suspect it leads out- eventually.

What Alexander chose to do with such information he hardly found he cared, offering it simply to assure his companion had no desire to explore any other tunnel before pressing onward, this tunnel growing only wider and taller the deeper they moved. Frost finding some relief from that oppressing feeling. The scent and sound of humans becoming all the louder the closer they came to that end. The tunnel eventually giving way to an enormous, enclosed cavern- this one veritably filled with poor excuses for human beings- or what remained of them. Most of them huddled in small groups or beneath threadbare blankets, all of them looked decidedly under-fed, the vast majority riddled with vampire bites that saw even Frosts features contort in some measure of disgust. The sight of the hunter and horse seeming to inspire little reaction, several people glancing upward before merely returning to whatever they were doing, a handful attempting to scramble away as if fearing Alexander too- was a vampire, the group wholly despondent at large and yet truly the stallion supposed some had been her for months, years even. Any will to live having left them entirely. That look he knew, that look he had seen before. There were fifty if not more, such numbers impossible to evacuate without being noticed, Frost already having begun to locate the more able bodied among them when one ear rotates briefly sideways, a shuffling noise that seemed too fast reaching the stallion's overly sensitive ears, his own head tilted to look towards it.

Alex, to your left.

It is no more than ten seconds or so of warning before that vampire exploded from the darkness and yet it was ten seconds the Hunter had to ready himself. The vampire attempting something akin to a flying tackle, aiming to bring Alexander to the ground beneath him, fangs lunging at any part of the Hunter he might be able to grasp before another rushing sound became entirely clear. A second vampire emerging from the shadows to assist his companion- this one coming at the Hunter from behind, one hand reaching out in a veritable blur of speed to grasp Alexander's sword arm and attempt to prevent him swinging it any further, teeth aiming directly for the mans neck. They were faster then even Frost had anticipated, that stallion dancing sideways- though neither had paid any attention to the stallion at all. That they, in their seclusion, may believe him to be a real horse having only just occurred to the man before the shadow of a third vampire attempting to sneak past him to join that fray became evidently clear, each muscle bunching, coiling, Frost's hind legs brought up before ricocheting backwards to collide heavily with that third vampire, crushing him between hoof and wall. It was hardly enough to kill the creature any yet for the time being at least the third vampire remained utterly unconscious. The pale stallions attention returning to his own companion now, his ears lacing backward, his own teeth lunging suddenly forward to bite into the leg of the second vampire- taking him entirely by surprise and perhaps affording Alexander a single moment to take some advantage.
