I was pleasantly surprised to find the invitation stuck beneath my door when I woke up that evening. Stretching my arms up behind my head, I let out a big yawn before leaning over to pick up the intricately folded piece of paper. Opening it up, my lips tugged into a crooked smirk. So Ceara is having a gathering. I guess that's one way to find out about the other supernaturals who call this lovely little town home. I went about the rest of my day and the next few days flew by. Finally the night arrives. I don a white shirt and a black jacket, even throwing on a black tie. I put on some nice dark wash jeans and regular shoes. Who's going to notice? At least I'm wearing my black tie event clothes. Wandering out into the night, I wonder what kind of get-together she's going to have. Who will come and who will go elsewhere? She has a pretty fancy place but it's not for low lifes. The ones who like things a little dirty probably won't come. Luckily for her, I don't have a taste. I head to the door and push my way through. It's not as crowded as I thought but there is plenty of people to keep me company. I can see the living blood bags from here, easy to tell by the scars on their arms and legs from their most recent feedings. Ceara went all out tonight. Peering in a corner, I can even make out a female vampire taking her fill, her arms wrapped around the human woman like two close relatives embracing. You wouldn't know unless you have a sensitive nose like myself and can smell the fresh blood. Licking my lips, I continue further into the club. I head to the bar and order a glass, noticing the glassy eyed stare of the elder bartender. He looks unusually docile today so I'm guessing Ceara used her mojo on him. Smirking, I take my drink and throw it back. Only then do I glance down the bar and notice Ceara already in conversation with another male vampire. He's new. I hold up my empty glass in greeting to her, offering her a smirk and a wink as I order another drink from the bartender. I don't want to interrupt her and her companion so I'll just wait my turn. Soon enough a human sidles up beside me on the next stool, hanging on me like an addict looking for her next fix. She's a pretty little blonde, maybe a little too scrawny for my taste but she's got glowing green eyes that would make me think witch under other circumstances. "Hey handsome, you thirsty?" She draws her hair aside, offering a view of her neck where I can't even count the tiny little pin prick marks where many other fangs have been. Snickering, I lean over, taking a long whiff as I trail my nose up her neck but then I pull back with a laugh. "Sorry, honey. I don't want to catch anything." She scoffs and recoils instantly, reaching out to slap me across the cheek before she moves away. I grin, watching her go before I turn back to my drink. |
