North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

The Sun Also Rises

How curious he might well have been in that moment to hear but a glimpse of Dareios own thoughts on that idea of a Fae and a Vampire so having taken each other up as lovers. Dorian knew, to some extent, that the blood of his own species seemed to be largely deemed a favourite amongst the undead. His own blood, so rare in its typing and too- so interwoven with his affinity for life itself seemed to render it exceptional even by his own species standard and yet it was to Sebastian alone he afforded the privilege of that taste. His own affinities so kept between themselves for that very concern that, perhaps as Dareios did in a fashion in that moment, other vampires may take it upon themselves to consider the possibilities of his blood. Dorian knowing well that Sebastian's affection for him went well beyond the taste of that, just as his own love for his consort exceeded that pleasure that came at the man's fangs. How his very existence had come to centre around that other man! Yet too, he spoke merely the first name of his lover, offering little else though hardly from impoliteness. The idea of speaking of his relationship was new to him, the manner in which others seemed to accept a union between two men in this day and age a marvel to him all the same. Dareios hardly blinking an eye. The vampire confirming but a moment later that he did not know any Sebastian. The Fae King simply nodding- unsurprised, truly.

In the wake of that terribly excited young fan and those diminishing glances even Dorian found himself more inclined to relax, shifting but briefly within his chair until he found a position of comfort. This evening had been wholly unanticipated and yet he hardly found his company displeasing in any sense. Dorian finding the other vampire rather intriguing. Enough so as to offer some solution to his issue with being recognised- Dareios too seeming to find the veritable downside to that in the idea that the press so often took to tearing apart what any person of note was wearing. Dorian having come to find the entire thing stressful at the best of times- that toothy grin and easy chuckle hardly missed, a simper stirring to his own lips.

"They do tend to be very judgemental of the hooded jackets."

He confirmed easily enough, this idea of a vampire whom so easily seemed to navigate both the press, the public and his office at large truly mystifying to the Fae if only because he seemed to do it so well. His question posed politely, that answer interrupted by the waiters arrival and Dareios own gesture for him to go first- Dorian choosing a favoured soup he had tasted before, pausing upon that dessert order. Chocolate cake, after all, was so reserved for those occasions with Sebastian alone. Dorian too hardly trusting that Dareios may not be a cake thief in turn before ordering...something that seemed pleasant and yet truly he had no idea as to what it was. Some aspects of modern life still lost upon him. His attention returned the Dareios then as the vampire offered that answer. Dorian seeming almost contemplative.

"You handle it well. I find you likeable- though perhaps I am prone to like vampires. Even so, I think you will be a good mayor. One will never appeal to all but it seems you have fans. I....work in politics, in my own country, I understand to some extent the difficulties those prejudice of species might present."

Well- it was largely true. He did work in politics to an extent. Italy as a whole, had mostly accepted the idea of its Monarch taking another man for a consort and yet still there were those who did not. Those whom sought to find each and every reason to disdain him whether species or age or sexuality or illegitimacy- though few dared speak of that in his presence. How it might weigh upon a man! Dorian seeking to brush those thoughts aside as he spoke once more. The Fae a truly personable creature in every sense.

"Do you know, I quite missed this city while I was in Italy? I came here by accident and now I find myself at home. I was living with another Fae for rather a long time though she has since left. The man she was seeing had some sort of horse riding accident or....a horse attacked him. I am not entirely sure, the business of Weres is not my own, even so, she could hardly bare to stay after that. For the first time in my life I live by myself. It baffles me as to what to do with the appliances. I tried making tea once. The entire kettle exploded. The modern world alarms me still. I do very much like mobile phones though."

Dorian, it seemed, was truly showing his age tonight.
