Hawethorn Village

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

You built this fortress, I stumble towards it;

It was obvious how this choice, this integral struggle between his sister and his loyal pack plagued him. One day he would be forced to choose and she could see that it tore him up inside, that he wanted to make the right choice by all which would be an impossible accomplishment. One side would surely suffer, no matter what his decision was. A gush of hot air escaped her lips in the form of a sigh, not envying the troublesome resolution he would one day be forced to answer to. Once day he may have to draw that firm line in the sand and stand immovable. But that day was fortunately not today. She answers his question truthfully about being selfish in his choices. "Perhaps a little bit of both. Heavy is the head that wears the crown." She understood that painstakingly clear, she had made choices that unbalanced the scales she could never get quite right. She is well aware that very torment can make kind men brutal and mean men into monsters. "When that time comes though, your gut won't steer you wrong even if it feels like it may." She admits softly, peering down. There will be consequences either way, much like the consequences she paid by starting anew. She listened to his words, phrases that had almost felt vulnerable to her. "You won't let the pack get torn to shreds." Not even his sister would get away with that. She surprised herself at that unwavering resolve within her voice, her golden eyes seem knowing and steadfast. Did she really know? Maybe not, but she was a damn good judge of character. He seemed like a good man, a kind man.

Amusement seemed to flicker across his features, melting away that dark and dismal attitude, trading it for something else as that soft chuckle escaped him. She is certain it was a rare sound, and it was a pity because he deserved more than that broody sulking. Like a man who carried the weight of worlds upon his broad shoulders. "You had to run away for a cookie? Everyone needs a cookie once in a while." She huffs, wishing if only that were true. Were his parents really strict health fanatics that they wouldn't let him enjoy a cookie? There was so much she didn't know, to this man she shared this pillow fort with. Yet, she somehow feels safe and odd feeling she was unaccustomed to.

If only she could have run away for a cookie when she was trapped within that pack, but they were surrounded by nothing but woodland and brush for miles and when they weren't, a cookie was the last thing on her mind. The most she could do those few moments she escaped was run, hunt, and clear her mind. They were kept as savage as possible and perhaps that was what kept her alive, kept her strong when most would crumble like sand sculptures against the high tide. Only the special ones, who were doctors or lawyers, got to work. It only fed more money to the alpha and sustained his twisted little kingdom of soldiers. "I don't think I could ever get sick of these cookies." She added softly almost thoughtful as her mind threatens to go elsewhere, she probably could have polished off every last one and pay the price with a cookie coma of sorts. But that would be rude to devour all of his cookies, wouldn't it?

Tetradore had caught her off when he asked her about her leg, she had been on her own for so long it felt strange. Regardless, she lifted her pant leg to show him the wake of that trap left behind. He is surprisingly gentle with the way his fingers trace over that healed over the wound which left a pale mar around her ankle much like a barbed wire band. His thumb tickles her flesh as they brush across her smooth caramel skin, admitting it wasn't bad. She was positive it would have healed far more grotesque that this almost dainty scar that it left behind, she was fascinated how their kind could heal from wounds that could be devastating to a human. Once retracting his hand she smoothed out her pant leg, bringing those knees to her chest where she could hug her knees loosely, leaning slightly into the plushy pillow behind her, careful not to bring the whole thing down.

His sudden bluntness made her laugh, only a few short notes but they still slipped out all the same. "Shit?" her eyes widened slightly, please the apartment didn't look that bad. It had four walls, yeah they were a little thin but she was safe, at least the illusion was there. There was a roof and everything was entirely functional enough to get by. It was better than those sterile concrete walls that were more akin to a prison cell, the angry snarls of fighting and other bestial sounds that echoed in the caverns in the last home she thought she would only ever know. The thought would have brought a tinge of anxiety within if it weren't a million miles away. She would rather die a thousand bloody deaths than going back to where she came. It would be the only ever option if he came for her. She had seen what he could do. She toyed with the fabric of her pants, feeling the soft buttery texture between her fingers as though the idle motion calmed her. "Believe me, this is paradise in comparison to what I have known. When you're free it doesn't matter where the hell you are." Here, this very apartment, despite its worn flaws was a welcomed sight, far more than maybe she deserved.

He had dubbed the fort. "Fort Santuario.." Mira repeated softly, a delicate playful quirk of her lips formed before she began. "Well, desperados be damned. There isn't anyone breaching the walls of our Fort Santuario tonight." She declared, a small snicker leaving her lips. It wasn't often she got that feeling where she didn't have to be on high alert, where the extreme fight instinct didn't have her hyper-aware of every single nuance and body twitch. It was exhausting, but it was how one could survive this chaos. Evidently, they both had baggage that most certainly could not fit in this fort. It was why, for some reason, they left that baggage outside this fortress and they sat like children, able to speak freely as though the weight of reality no longer existed. She enjoyed this fleeting moment where the air wasn't heavy with burden and that metaphorical waiting for the glass to shatter into a million tiny fragments without a moment's notice was temporarily gone.

But then he continued mentioning something rather peculiar. Revealing something about a catastrophic fire, perhaps he meant a forest fire that burnt the trees to cinder and ash? She hardly knew. Yet she can't help that nagging curiosity bubble just beneath that surface. How could he mention something so very dramatic as a fire and not elaborate? "A fire? What happened?" She could not help but wonder, her dark brown brow elevated slightly in question. It was difficult to imagine a younger Tetradore who was carefree playing in the forest with his best friend. But the thought of it was warming, just like she imagined what it was like when she was young. Mira was a feisty little thing and had an impressive imagination for a girl her age. It's sad how time erodes their reality that was once a part of you, all those innocent notions crumbled within its pummelling grasp. Yet the very fort was a contradiction. Perhaps there were some quirks that could not die. At least she could cling to that.

Her name cut through the air, it felt strange hearing it, she perked up. Sitting a little straighter, tilting her head slightly in an inquisitive way."Yes? What's up?" She peered at him quizzically, those golden eye watching him intently. Sometimes those very eyes hardly looked human and wolf-like in every way, intensified by that subtle glow she sometimes got when human. He mentioned something about a girlfriend and she immediately remembered he had talked about one before, the one Frost had traumatised. But quickly he backtracks, retracting that she wasn't his girlfriend anymore, interesting. Possibly it was simply too much for the girl, there were some who could not handle trauma and others were created from the ashes of it. Maybe he hoped that she would come back one day? Was that longing in his voice? She peers at those vibrant green eyes, curious of the man behind that careful mask he placed upon his face.

Mira wasn't entirely sure what she was expecting but she didn't anticipate Tetradore to offer her a place to live. Maybe she wouldn't feel like such a stray mutt? It would be a place of permanence, a home, something that was hers. A home was the kindest thing someone could ever offer, somewhere she could finally set down those roots that she had wanted so badly but yet seemed so out of reach. She was wondering what her big plan after this was, she knew she intended to stay, her mind had already been made up. Mira wasn't one to flee at the first sign of danger. After all, it went against that whole notion of starting over. If she left the moment she heard something that wasn't idea she would become a nomad, moving from place to place as soon as shit hit the fan. She had a lot of details she had to figure out still, like a job, but a home was a damn good place to start. "If you think that this is shit, then that apartment must be the Taj Mahal." She grins easily, laughter toying within her voice. "I would need to see it first.. but you have yourself a deal. Sacrosanct is my home now, and I sadly can't live in Fort Santurio forever." It was a damn pity, possibly as much as the thought of those cookies running out. She popped that last piece she had between her fingers, washing it down with the milk in her glass. She wasn't ready to leave this fort, at least not yet.

Perhaps that whole living in the forest was a tad barbaric, even for the wild soul she possessed. Mira was still human as much as she was wolf. Clinging to a simplistic creature comfort, stowing away within these safe plush walls certainly had its appeal too. But there was also part of her that wanted to run within that forest, run until her lungs burnt, until her legs trembled and complained to give out entirely. A moment when she was neither here nor there and her weary soul could simply just rest. She hadn't the faintest idea what she would do for work, her skill sets were often possessed by mercenaries. She wanted out of that kind of chaotic life. She doubted the fact that she could shoot pretty damn well would help her in getting a job. But that was a dilemma for another day. At least she had gathered her belongings that she stowed away in the forest, including that money she brought with her. "Thanks Tetradore, you seem to be solving all my problems these days. You're going to have to let me take you out somewhere, it doesn't matter where. Surely you have to do something for fun or do something to blow off some steam. We both know you deserve it." She was indebted to him, this was much was certain, that long lists of IOU's getting longer by the second. There was no denying that.
