Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

An orange glow begins to overwhelm the sky as dusk approaches. Exhausted from the day, Dorothy trudges forward. She'd decided to walk rather than pay for bus fare. Her savings are beginning to dwindle thanks to an emergency rent payment to a not-so-generous landlord. Dorothy's search for a job has become more frantic; although, now that her resumes are all distributed, all the young fairy can do is wait. Waiting is, of course, among her least favorite activities.
Maybe she should have followed through with her initial plan: join the military. Make something useful of herself. That can always be a backup plan, though, couldn't it? She remembers why she chose this path instead. She's heard stories of humanoids like her being discovered by dark hunters after joining the service. While those stories may not be true, Dorothy really isn't planning on determining the validity. She hasn't even decided whether or not she'd like to meet others of her own kind here. She left the ones she knows far, far behind in the village. She wants to start anew, forget her past, build on her own character. But now, she has no plan.
At that moment, a breeze raises faint goosebumps along Dorothy's arms. She unties her thin jacket, one crafted from her old quilt that was only half damaged in that life changing night over a decade ago, from her waist and slips her arms into the sleeves. Her jean shorts that seemed appropriate in the weather only hours ago now offer little protection in the dropping temperature. Dorothy's small frame becomes a silhouette on the sidewalk, hands stuffed into patchy pockets and red hair tangling in the wind. She's almost home. Or, at least her temporary home. As temporary as possible, really.
A car alarm goes off a few streets down. A dog barks. A cat, as black as coal, runs across the sidewalk only a few steps ahead of Dorothy's feet. A bad omen? She reaches up and rubs her thumb over a black obsidian stone hanging from a string. Her old foster mother is quite the witch doctor... minus the witch part. Dorothy might've picked up on some of her ways. Maybe more than a few. The stone around her neck will protect her.
