Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
"Heilige Scheiße (Holy Shit)."
Crystal blue eyes stared at Anastasia in pure disbelief as I whispered in German in surprise. It was absolutely insane to think that the lost Grand Duchess of Russia was standing right before me. As I stared at the woman in silence I could feel my own mind try to process this surreal information. The woman was about 17 years of age when she was killed. Her family was executed in the most terrible way and the new Russian government attempted to hide the fact. For years there were rumors that Anastasia and maybe a few of her family members survived. Some said she survived because the family jewels were sewn into her clothing that the bullets didn't harm her, and a Bolshevik solider regretted his actions and immediately got her out of there secretly. Some said she and her young brother managed to escape and live somewhere else, always hiding and covering their tracks. There were books, a musical, and a few films that lived out this fantasy that she was indeed alive. Shaking my head I murmured softly, taking a step close needing more information.
"How did he find you? They said...when it happened it was chaos... The rumors spread stating you were alive, some people even claimed they were you."
There was only one thing I had in common with Anastasia, and it was the murder of my own parents. They may not have died in the same manner, but I know how that pain feels...I know how terrible it truly is. Even though she hasn't been in around for months and months I cannot help, but feel a bit of sympathy. One hundred years. A century. For an entire century, the woman before me had to live without them, and I cannot imagine how difficult that must have been. Well I can, but my pain is not exactly the same as hers. I find it crazy how one famous person in history managed to find Anastasia and save her...is that the right phrase? A Dark Hunter saving another person and turning them into their own species? I can't help but look away from her and scan the gallery to ensure that no one was focusing on us. I mean I don't think a Bolshevik solider is going to come out of nowhere and try to kill Anastasia I mean Linen is dead...the man's in a glass casket for Christ's sake! Satisfied that no one is paying attention to us I look back at the woman and ask even more questions.
"How do you endure after all this time? Did you ever go out to see the Dowager Empress Marie...did she get to see the last of her family?"
