South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

better to have loved than never loved at all

Henry was rather enjoying this quiet time with Sterling, talking about their plans for the future. He had high hopes that this time around, they would be better for one another and he knew that they would not make the same mistakes as before. Already they were trying to step with the right foot by trying to remove the physical aspect of their relationship. While Henry always had a burning desire to be with Sterling, he was making a genuine effort to control himself. Perhaps Sterling's idea was planting good roots for them, roots that wouldn't be pulled up so easily when the hard times hit.

As Sterling deepened their chaste kiss, Henry fought the urge to continue their display. He wanted nothing more than to ravish Sterling, but...he was also trying to be good. So he merely pulled the boy into a warm embrace, returning those words of love. He didn't often speak of his emotions, but when he couldn't not physically show Sterling just how much he loved him, then words were all that could be passed between them.

Fearing that he would want to lose control, Henry changed the subject, expressing his gratitude that Sterling's boss had allowed him time off. He mentioned knowing the man could be an ass sometimes, and Sterling's worlds that he was an ass all the time made him laugh hysterically. "Well, I'm just glad he managed to be nice for once." He knew Sterling really wanted to be here with him and had his boss not allowed him the time off, he was sure Sterling would have been crushed.

Henry settled into the silence, sighing softly in contentment. His eyes watched over the flickering of the fire as he relaxed against the couch. It had been so long since he had felt so at peace with his life. It was perfect. There was nothing more that Henry could possibly ask for.

Sterling's words broke the comfortable silence and Henry listened quietly. He nodded softly when Sterling mentioned the idea of getting a job that would allow him to be home more. "It would definitely be nice to see you more in the evenings." As it stood, Sterling was typically asleep when he left for work and he didn't return home until late in the evening. If Henry got to see him at all, it was really only on his days off...which seemed to be few and far between.

His hand dropped down to rest on his lover's thigh. The touch was soft and innocent, not really demanding any sort of return gesture. He fell into silence before there was a knock at the door. He slowly stood up from the couch and went to the door. As he opened the door, their favorite delivery driver was standing there with a smile. He paid the man, thanked him, then grabbed the food and took it inside. Once the door was closed and locked, he moved back to the couch and placed the bag of food on the coffee table. "Soup or entrée first?" While he waited for the answer, he began to pull out their meals, the soups, and their utensils laying them across the coffee table.
