Emmy, despite her rather intense appearance, was nothing short of an affectionate soul who truly wanted to believe there was good in everyone. They were all different in personality, but at the root of it all, they were still human. They still valued life over death. It didn't matter if they had powers or could shift into animals. None of that truly mattered. They were still human. They felt love and joy and hurt and hate all the same. Those feelings were a universal language, one that Emerson tried to speak plainly.
So naturally, when she saw the young gentleman waiting for the bus, it was her instinct to hope that he was friendly. While she could be skittish at times, she tried not to take out her fears on others. She had stepped into his space. If anyone should be a little skittish, it was him. She saw the way he looked at her sword and she could almost feel him tense. She tried to be friendly, to ask if the bus she needed had come by, but it didn't seem to be helping much.
He informed her that the bus had just left and she sighed. She wouldn't run after the bus. After a long day of walking and talking to strangers, she was done. She really wished she had a stiff drink right about now. While Emerson had never been a big drinker, she did find that she enjoyed a drink every now and then. Now, she needed one. Her feet were aching and her stomach growling.
Settling herself against the bench, she sighed softly and began to stare down at her feet. She heard him speak and she slowly looked up at him. At his words, she gave him a soft smile with a hearty chuckle. "No, I didn't plan on it. It's just there for protection...mostly for show." While she was a pretty mean hand with her sword, she didn't pull it out unless she felt threatened. Something about this stranger didn't make her feel uncomfortable at all. It was rather surprising when she thought about it. "I'm Emerson...but call me Emmy." She figured if she was going to be here until the next bus arrived, she might as well try to be friendly.
