The little puppy in the man's arm was absolutely adorable. It had been a long time since she had been around puppies, or any dog for that matter. When she was living with Alex in an old abandoned warehouse, she had not been given the luxury of a pet. There was an old alley cat that made his rounds, but that was hardly the same. Emmy could remember always wanting a dog growing up, but her parents had always said no. They claimed they made too much of a mess and were loud. It didn't stop Emmy from wanting one. She had always wanted a Great Dane. So regal and beautiful. But alas, she had yet to get one.
As she approached the man with the dog, he introduced the Puppy as Desdemona. She smiled. "Like from Othello?" Emmy had always been a reader. Her parents had always encouraged her to read before bed and soon, that blossomed into a love for books that even being homeless could not squash. She found like public libraries were great places to catch up on the latest books...and it didn't cost her a dine. "She's beautiful. Her name suits her." She smiled. She was a friendly person, always trying her best to remain happy and carefree. Even if he didn't smile, she would give him plenty of smiles in return.
He introduces himself as Benjamin and she takes his offered hand in a friendly handshake. "It's nice to meet you Benjamin. I'm Emerson...but people call me Emmy." Now that pleasantries were exchanged, she pulled her hand back to rest at her waist.
He apologizes for the intrusion on her walk and she simply shakes her head. "No need to apologize. I don't mind. She is a pleasant surprise. I was just out walking...and thinking." She hadn't been thinking about anything in particular. The fresh air just allowed her to clear her mind. It was peaceful.
She steps closer to the pair, her hand outstretched so the puppy could sniff her. Eyes looked up at Benjamin. "Can I pet her?" She had learned very quickly that some owners just didn't like anyone to go out and pet their dogs without asking first. So Emmy was going to ask. She hoped he said yes. So while she was waiting, she asked another question. "How old is she? She looks quite young." Between that puppy look and her large amount of energy, she couldn't be very old at all.
