The long road to recovery had begun. He came back to the apartment each day to help Sterling get the place cleaned back up. The apartment was only one bedroom and Henry wasn't quite ready to share it with Sterling...at least not yet. So he stayed at the ark in the mean time. Each morning he would eat breakfast with his pack and then spend all day with Sterling until he eventually had to leave to head back to sleep.
He still wasn't quite ready to give himself fully to Sterling. After his performance issues the last time, he was downright scared to try again. Henry had never been one to lack in the sex department, so now that Sterling's scars were holding him back, he wondered if he would ever be able to love Sterling in such an intimate way again. Perhaps it would just take time. But how much time? How would he know?
This particular evening, Henry had attempted to cook Sterling dinner. It had not turned out well, of course. Unlike Sterling, he had not been gifted the ability to cook. But he had tried and he had hoped it had gone over well with Sterling, even if it didn't taste like a five star meal.
After dinner, he had offered to go on a walk with Sterling to see the starts. The moon was nearing fullness and Henry knew that tonight would be the last night he could spend such an evening under the stars with Sterling. Tomorrow, he would have to spend it with his pack.
He walked lazily down the beach, his hand reaching for Sterling's and his fingers intertwining in his. "I'm sorry dinner was a bust tonight." The steak had been burned, the baked potatoes undercooked, and the brownies he'd made were a little crispier than he cared for. The only thing that had turned out right were the beers...and that was because those came pre-packaged. "One of these days I'll cook something edible." He offered Sterling a soft smile, hoping that his light attempt at a joke would go over well.
Toes easily moved through the sand, Henry taking a moment to enjoy the feeling of simply being free. It had been too long since he and Sterling had been on a true date. He hoped his attempt at romance was going over well. Henry had never really been the "hearts and flowers" sort of guy, but he was trying. He was doing all of this for Sterling.
