This particular morning, Henry had risen early and left the Ark before even eating breakfast. Last night he had dinner with Malia, his best friend that wasn't his boyfriend, and she had given him a lot to think about. He had tried to treat her to a nice meal, but instead he had ruined it by opening up his past. It had been a mistake and now he was paying dearly for it. Now he couldn't stop thinking about whether or not he should leave his boyfriend, knowing that it was probably for the best. But he loved that man and he was pretty certain that Sterling loved him in return. So was leaving him best for Sterling? Or an easy escape for him?
It was these thoughts that had kept him up nearly all night, causing him to toss and turn until he finally decided that he would give up on sleep and try to make sure of today. A walk along the beach seemed like a decent way to spend the morning. So slipping on his swim trunks and flips, he headed down to the water's edge. He had no intention of really getting in the water, but he figured it was safer to wear swim trunks than fight sand and salt water in his jeans.
Finding him a quiet place to sit on the beach, Henry began to watch the sunrise. The colors that filled the sky were beautiful and magnificent. It made him think about a lot of things, giving him time to think about his life and where he was going with it. Becoming a were had not been a goal of his human life, but the mistake had happened and now, he had to simply make the best of it.
Up ahead, there was a young woman minding her own business, walking quietly along the beach when out of nowhere, a dog came rushing towards her, teeth bared with the intent to attack. Quickly, Henry rose to his feet, running towards the young woman to put himself between the ferocious dog and her. As the dog came near, he damn near hissed at the creature (not realizing he could hiss when he wasn't in his feline form). Henry made himself big, extending his arms and waving them as he yelled at the beast. Eventually, the dog gave up on his original goal and turned and hi-tailed it back down the beach in the opposite direction.
Once Henry was sure she was out of immediate danger, he turned and headed towards the young woman. He offered her a friendly smile as he came near. "Are you alright, miss?" He looked at her curiously, hoping the dog hadn't given her too much of a fright. He never knew anymore if people were fearful or not afraid of anything. What was she?
