Serafina hardly gave the simper upon Brennan's features a second thought. She was so used to such a look that she never would have anticipated the very emotions it masked. That roguish grin so often spoke to the man's more impish nature - before he inevitably did something that got himself into some sort of trouble. Or perhaps, he had simply always been good at hiding behind that very smile that she took to mean so little. Regardless, her arms crossed just beneath her chest, emphasizing her breasts with that singular action. Although the witch was entirely aware of Brennan's gaze upon her slender figure, she was hardly willing to allow him to merely distract her from that agitation that grasped so strongly at her own heart. After all, Brennan had finally returned to her after such a great many years only to vanish in thin air - whisked away by whatever next great query he sought. It irritated her to no end. She had wasted tears on him when he had left the first time with naught a word. Though he had offered his tale and given his excuses, it certainly did not make up for the cool silence he had given her since. She had welcomed him back within her life and had received strikingly little to show for her efforts.
Her very inquiry as to his absence, however, was met with a mention of her own boyfriend. She was mostly certain that she hadn't mentioned Azrael was a Dark Hunter. Had Brennan done his own looking into who she was dating? Did it matter? If not, why did it bother her so greatly? Her stormy-grey eyes fluttered away from the man in front of her, her lips pressed together and though she abhorred those more tender conversations about emotions, perhaps, today, it was necessary.
Her lips pressed in a hard line and yet, Serafina failed to offer any response of the man's comment. Rather, there was something else that pulled at her attention - a very distinct and rather awful smell. Her nose wrinkled before she commented on that very aroma, only to mention that horridly....burnt scent. It seemed to cling to the very air that surrounded him, making the woman step back as her hand fanned the air in front of her. Did he get into some sort of fight with a skunk or something?! She watched as he brought his arm to his nose, sniffing at his scent and the fabric of his clothes, clearly oblivious to the aromas that assaulted everyone else but him. Serafina hardly expected that ghoulish tale of a beast made of snot and goo that lacked any visible orifices and held a heart at the epicenter of all that....gooiness. The very idea of it was enough to make her cringe, the girl entirely unwilling to come out of the forest anything like him. She might have been willing to face a demon for him or a portal to another world but not gross smelly monsters from outer space!
Her stormy eyes scanned the forest almost wearily at Brennan's admission that there very well could be another similar monster stalking the depths of the forest, though it was unlikely considering the very mutations the warlock had seen. Serafina, on the other hand, trusted neither him, nor the monsters, nor the forest or the portal or anything to do with this whole affair she had gotten herself so unintentionally into. Brennan seemed to hesitate for a moment before that shrug crossed his shoulders only to mention that the very portal he had come back through was still left open somewhere in the thick of the forest. Serafina pivoted upon the balls of her feet, staring at him with her mouth open.
The very idea of helping him bathe, however, caused her stormy eyes to glance up at the man, their gaze momentarily met in as she provided him with a challenging look he was unwilling to falter from. Those very thoughts of what lay beneath his clothing danced at the forefront of her mind, though the offer was tempting, Serafina was quick to inform him she was more inclined to throw him into a lake than her own bath tub. At the very least, however, there was one thing the pair both agreed on. Any efforts to ensure Brennan was clean would come after that magical portal he had naively left open was dealt with. "After the portal." She agreed, oblivious to the thoughts of long past and could have beens that dwelled on his mind.
