Some fear fire, but I've become it.
Mira could not deny the awe that crossed her features as she took in the new garage, the morning sun glinting off the new, practically untouched surfaces. Her boyfriend's own personal sanctuary besides his room which contained his bed. The rumble of the baritone of his voice drew her golden gaze to him, that offered a glimpse of that small but existing smile. He smiled more now, she noticed, as if a weight had lifted a little from his burdened but strong shoulders. Maybe being in the middle of an ocean could do that to you, or maybe it was simply being away. There was no one to bother them. No responsibilities to tug at the alpha in every which way. That admittance that he was skeptical of the promises the designers made of that garage, at least at first but they had managed to pull it off, caused the woman to bob her head in agreement. It was impressive. In Mira's humble opinion, they did more than pull it off. Every last detail was well thought out and she could tell exactly where Tetradore's practical input was utilized to make it function along with the all the glitz and glamour.
However, it was the claim that the ceiling was unbreakable that drew out her more skeptical side. Everything could break, if the Ark before could testify. Did the builders of the Titanic not boast that the ship was unsinkable? The thought made her internally cringe, not wanting the imagery to singe within her mind. Not with this beautiful new home. They were here, they were practically in paradise. She hated that she had the thought to begin with. But a wound that was still healing was still very much a wound. The she-wolf brushed those thoughts aside, choosing to remain optimistic over the grumblings of her own mind. After all, one did not question the sunrise of a new day. This was their sunrise. Although, that had to be more optimistic than she was prepared for as she closed her eyes, halfway ready to snort out a laugh at herself. All before they flickered open again and that wandering gaze stole a glance at the man at her side. She noticed the furrow of his brow, wondering if he shared a similar thought of doubt, confirming as much as he shook his head as if he could too wipe himself free of the thoughts within his own mind. She almost expected him to seal himself off... but his hand surprisingly reached for hers instead. The mere brush of his hand against her own certainly helped ground her in that moment, wondering if it did the same to him. Regardless, she squeezed his hand softly as if to further draw him back into the moment, bumping him with her shoulder softly. Better guide that topic into safer territory. "I am not going to want to leave this ship. It has everything.. Although, I am probably going to have to swim a lot more... just to see you." She tacked on the last bit with a glimmer of a tease, far lighter and much better than the darkness that had begun to creep in.
There was still so much to see... and Mira was certain that even with all that the pair took in... there would be so much she had missed. It was nice to have those weeks to themselves, to explore that newness together. Yet the brunette could not help but be distracted by the surreal, calming quality to the garage as she took in that space before snagging upon the cars, noting the mysterious car shaped bundle in the back. She could imagine all of his cars lining in their own respective spaces within the well-lit space.
Her boyfriend's hand released her own as they stood a little beyond his newest purchase and near the ominous, covered car. Tetradore quickly uttered the word 'surprise.' Although, the word was spoken in the exact opposite tone that it should have been uttered. Did he not know the meaning behind the word surprise? Only Tetradore could get away with making it seem like the least enthusiastic word known to man. That word sounded almost funny from his lips. However, enthusiasm was never something she expected from him. Yet, she could not deny her own. That prickle that rose within her chest as she moved to unwrap the sheet from what was obviously a car beneath with an almost dramatic flourish she could not help. She felt that piercing emerald gaze upon her, settled intently as he watched her every move. She would not lie, taking off the cover was like peeling the plastic film off of a new electronic. It was just plain satisfying.
However, when the new gleaming, crimson jaguar looked back at her, it was like she forgot how to work. His reply to her... stammering made it clear that this was the surprise. Oh. It was perfect. It was beautiful and sleek, exactly like a Jaguar should be. Especially the very one she had coveted for quite some time. It basically matched the red even if the shade was darker than her Ducati that she'd grown so attached to even if it wasn't conducive to those Sacrosanct winters.
Mira was so taken aback by the shock of that vehicle that was before her, she missed the amused way he took in the wild array of facial expressions that flitted across her features while she looked at it for the first time. She couldn't help but caress the glossy hood as if to make sure it was somehow real. It's a car, he repeated her words back to her with no hint to any emotion, although she might have been imagining the barest hint of amusement as he said it.
Surely this wasn't hers, even though the rules of 'surprise' certainly meant it was something for the other person. But this was a big gift, something that she could barely wrap her mind around. Her silly words rightfully caused his eyes to roll as he claimed that it didn't fit his usual preferences because it wasn't for him. She now understood why people spazzed out at game show when they won a new car. Fortunately, and mercifully her unwilling mind to process such a big thing seemed to make her think through this more. She swallowed as he took a step forward, her golden gaze followed to his hand that disappeared into a pocket to pull out the keys, a small smile playing across his lips as he confirmed once more that it was hers, as if he could sense that she truly could not fathom this.
"Its.." She took a single step toward him, grabbing the keys and wrapped around hand in one fluid movement.. well her smaller hand couldn't quite wrap around his larger one completely. But it was enough before she grinned, no beamed at him, drawing in closer to press a smiling kiss to his mouth. "Perfect. It's more than perfect." She kissed him again because she couldn't help contain it. "I can agree to waiting until we get on land... for.. well obvious reasons. But as soon as we are able, I think its my turn to take you out on a date." She laughed as her fingers lowered to the keys in his hand that he willingly relinquished to her. She was so excited she could barely feel the gentle rock of that boat anymore from being at sea.
Yet she did not pull away just yet... They were alone and there was no way she could hold back the temptation to wrap her arms around him in a hug. Her face buried in the crook of his neck and drew in his scent that enveloped her in a sense of comfort.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you.." She murmured softly into that welcoming warmth where his neck met his shoulder. She wasn't sure if there was enough thank yous in the world to explain how she felt. She relished in the feel before the brunette inevitably broke away, scurrying off to truly take in that car, her thumb easily pressing the unlock button before directly heading toward the driver seat that she slid into. Her eyes didn't know where to land as they skimmed over everything, relishing in the new car smell that greeted her home. A simple but telling sigh escaped her as she began to toy with the mirrors. Her molten golden gaze shot toward her boyfriend's own eyes with a grin that refused to fade from her lips as she signaled with her closest hand for him to get inside. "Come on, get in.." She encouraged her boyfriend after lowering the window to the passenger side. It felt like she was picking him up on some date, her mind flashing to the idea of taking him to a drive-in movie theatre sometime.
"But hey... You don't need to get me lavish gifts. You should know that I like spending time with you enough." How strange a feeling it was, her previous boyfriends never really gifted her much of anything... let alone.. a whole car. She then eyed the embellishment of the Jaguar upon the steering wheel, running her fingers along the rim of metal. The fact that the car was a Jaguar and so was he... was not lost upon her if the look upon her face was anything to go by. That playful gleam within her eye as she shifted to eye him.
"You know... its not everyday...." She paused for effect. "that you see a jaguar sitting in a Jaguar.."
