South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Well, it wasn't every day she got caught. Really she was awfully good at hiding her...capability. It was something she had been taught at such a tender age. When she was merely a school-aged pup, she was already capable of bringing out her wolfish attributes. Snarling and growling, showing her teeth to all. It just came so natural even while in human form. Yet, out in public she was not allowed to do such a thing. Always, she was reminded to keep her attitude in check, constantly reminded that she was to behave like a good little girl. Oh, but how could she explain to her pack that she was not just a girl...she was wolf, and she would rather prance around in her fur than in her skin. There was one time, on the school ground, when she had gotten herself in trouble. A little boy had yanked her braid, tearing her copper curls out from their bind. Angered that he had laid a finger on her, much less ruin what the female Alpha had done for her, she thought it best if she turned into her animal form and bite his arm in retaliation. That was the only time she exposed herself and she had to pay a heavy price. While the boy was taken away to a psychiatric ward to his padded cage, she was taken to a cold dingy cage for a while. Members of her own pack decided it was best if she was given the same treatment; make the lesson cruel and fitting. While the boy ate slob and was treated terribly, she ate gruel and molded crumbs. While he was treated with electrotherapy, they thought it best to force her to wear an electric collar, shocking her all the same. The lesson was taught very well. When she ousted herself, not only would she have to suffer the consequence so would the innocent bystander. There was no pack to punish her this time, there was no secret she had to keep. Some innocent girl found out, and so she would have to deal with this on her own- there was no running to a pack for help.

"Wolf got your tongue?"

Her voice was soft, as her ebony head tilted to the side. She was attempting to use humor, those strings of humanity tugging at her, reminding her that a little light humor could always break the ice. Blue-grey eyes studied the stuttering girl carefully, grey rimmed ears pointed towards her alert to her subtle body language. It was common for a predator to study their prey closely, looking for the signs that screamed either the fight or flight signal. Truly she hoped the red-haired girl wasn't going to run away, it would be quite difficult to prove she wasn't going to attack when she was in this form. Yet she couldn't be cute and cuddly like some common mongrel either. Lifting her head, her cold nose moving back and forth tasting the air, fill of tension, fear, and increased adrenaline. Lifting one grey paw she crouched towards her, tail down as she attempted to show some sort of sign that she wasn't going to attack. Her left ear twitched picking up on the whisper underneath her breath. Shaking her ebony crown side to side her tail flicked to the side in a humorous manner.

"Well you know, my mother was a wolf and my Dad just got real lucky one late drunk night...."

Black lips pulled back, attempting to give the girl a grin. Yet it would seem that although her gesture was supposed to be in jest, tasting the spark of increased fear on the air simply made her eyes widen as she came to the realization that perhaps showing her teeth wasn't the smartest thing to do. Shaking her head a soft whine echoed from her muzzle as she brought herself into a sitting position. As the girl stumbled backwards towards the weathered park bench, she let out a soft warning bark, not necessary wanting the girl to trip and fall. A soft sigh was released as her head would tilt to the side once more, her voice just as gentle as before.

"Well there goes all my wolfish jokes...look...maybe you should just sit down...and I can answer all your questions since, you know, the wolf is out of the bag?"

Okay so...maybe she had a few more wolfish jokes underneath her paw.
