leila
A blood curdling scream tore through Leila's throat as she glanced over her shoulder at the men that chased her down the alleyway. She could see their cheshire smiles in the low lamp light, the very sound of her voice seemed to spur them onward as their feet rang out against the cobblestone. Leila darted towards the alleyway on her left, the darkness hardly frightening her as she cut through past the boxes piled outside the businesses. The men were hot on her tail, calling to her as they ran with their sneering low voices but she ignored them as she cut across the dark and quiet street. It was late and here in the West side, there were less people out and about -at least, not here. Her pace slackened just a bit, the two men drawing ever closer as her bright blue eyes scanned the streets. She knew exactly where she was. Just three blocks to go. She just had to run another three blocks. She could do three blocks. Three blocks was manageable, at least, that's what she tried to tell herself as she ran into another alleyway. In the dimness of the night, she hardly noticed the uneven cobblestone underground until the tip of her shoe caught onto the very edge of one just too high stone. Another scream left her lips in shock as Leila tumbled to the ground with a hard thud. Shit! No, no, no, no, no! The fairy scrambled to her feet, launching forward just as the two men closed the distance between them, one calloused hand grabbed her around her wrist, pulling her back towards him and into his chest.
He reeked. He smelled horribly of alcohol and dirt and grime.
She peeked out from her makeshift hiding place, her brunette locks swaying as she eyed the Dark Hunter and the human man who had been stalking her. Hardly a word was required from her lips before the other man took off town the alley - outright running from the woman. The other man, however, remained upon the ground, howling in pain as he rolled, clutching his knee. It was only once Leila was certain the encounter was over that she stepped out of her hiding place, only to approach the fallen fellow and the Dark Hunter that had intervened on her behalf. The bright blue of her gaze scanned the female once more in brief consideration. She was...young. Or rather, she was just old enough to think she was invincible, to think she had figured things out, to think she'd become good enough at hunting to survive...but in comparison to Leila...she was just a child. Even her own daughter was older than her. Those thoughts were put aside for now, however, as Leila carefully stepped around the man on the ground. "Oh my God, thank you so much! You're absolutely amazing! You took care of them so quickly!" She gushed as she looked up at the slightly taller woman. "I know this...a bit...much but...would you...be okay maybe..walking me home? It's only three more blocks that way and...well...I'm scared the other one might come back...or worse...a vampire." She gestured in the direction she had been running as she spoke, only to tuck her brunette hair behind her ear as she shyly glanced up at the woman.
