The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

If there was anything that the young witch couldn't stand, it was being told what to do. No, that was something that simply wouldn't do. It was why she belonged to no coven, had no mentor, had no family. She was her own, existing entirely away from anyone else, living the life that she thought best. And so it had turned out that scamming the human patrons of the city with potions that would not change their lives at all, so what? It wasn't illegal by any means, and the witch hardly would have cared if it was. So that the Dark Hunter had deemed himself above her, striding into her shop as if he owned the place, well, it had put her in a rather terrible mood. She had little patience for him â€" though she doubted there was an alternative that would have made her more sympathetic to the man, really â€" and it was quite obvious in the way that she dismissed him, offering up a sarcastic retort rather than an answer to his question. For most of the hunters that she'd run into in the past, the realization that all she sold out of the front of her shop was water and essential oils was enough to send them on their way, but there was something stubborn about the blonde buffoon that stood in front of her. And oh, he had fight to him as well, the girl merely arching an eyebrow at the comment regarding antiquity. "I shall give you foolish answers to foolish questions. I find sarcasm keeps me young." The threat about the stake was disregarded, the woman hardly believing that he'd have the intent to harm her. After all, if he'd wanted to do that, he would have done so already. But oh, so many of those stupid Hunters and their so-called consciences.
Still, the girl bothered not with the hunter, instead walking to the back of her shop in a way to dismiss him â€" or rather, see if he would harm her for the actual magic that she held in the back of her shop. The potions that existed here were worth something and the girl knew it. So when he followed her to the back, she merely quirked up a corner of her lip in amusement before going back to that look of distain that she had regarded him with. The girl turned, leaning against the wall near her spell books as he opened his mouth to give her a warning. "I think you'll find that your warning makes me fear nothing. I'll sell to who I want, and what I want, as long as they can pay for it. And some humans can, as you well know." She gave him a short laugh. "I didn't get to be a witch by birth, you know."
"Besides," The woman moved, it clear that she had struck a cord with him. Her fingers trailing over the books that seemed to have a sway within the man. They weren't all of her books, no, the majority of them and the potions held upstairs within her apartment. "I didn't think it was within the council to give warnings and pity. If the council cared, they'd order you to get rid of me, wouldn't they? Or have they already ordered that, and you're just too..." She crossed the room then, moving towards him to put a hand flat against his chest as she spoke. "Oh, it's not kind. You're not that at all, are you. No, you're too weak to harm me. You like witches, don't you? So pretty, so powerful. We almost look human." She reached up with her other hand, twirling a finger around one of his blonde curls. "They're your soft spot, aren't they, Hunter?"
The girl stepped back, moving again away from the man, content that her tormenting him would be enough to make the message clear. She was not afraid of him, not even remotely, and would not bow down to his wishes or close her shop just because he said so. She wouldn't move the potions, nor the books. No, she would continue as she always had. "Oh, I understand perfectly, pretty boy. You'll just find that I don't care." She watched as he let a flair of light loose within his hand. "Oh pretty, I bet you'd be a wonderful light show." The comment nearly died on her lips as he cast it towards her stool, watching as it disintegrated before her eyes. "Now that is a nice party trick," She commented, ignoring his insult. "But again, you'll find I'm not afraid. Can I give you a potion as a parting gift on your way out of my damn shop?"
