The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Darien could hardly remember how he even got here. He remembered running out and missing the dreaded walk of shame. He recalled almost getting his lights punched out at the bar (which unfortunately was not something new to the fairy). Then he was dancing and locked inside a bathroom with a bleeding witch. Who was some sort of ... thief? Now they were acting out as a drunk couple to avoid some nasty men. He was attached to her out of worry and the odd way in which they met. Leave it to the fae to always find himself into some strange situation, but he rather enjoyed it.
It's safe to say she plays the drunk girlfriend part extremely well as they weave in and out of the crowd. He's much like her puppet, taking cues from her squeezing in what direction to go and leading them out into the cool night. And thankfully a cab pulls up rather fast. Needless to say, Darien was about to fall over from the anxiety. Please, I don't feel like dying tonight. Please let's get out of here.
Once inside the cab, silence engulfs them, but it's nothing uncomfortable. Well, it was a little to him but not in the way one might expect. There was something enchanting in that space between them. The buildings give way to more isolation and rather in a neglected state compared to where they were, but he doesn't really pay much attention. His mind was in the clouds even if he seemed to look like he was observing his surroundings. He was flooded with emotions he wasn't sure of. Was it simply the alcohol? Was it something more? Was he ... getting a crush? He briefly looks at her, the lights from the street illuminating her pale face. Before she could look back or see he was staring, he looks forward and his cheeks are red.
Enthusiasm and excitement grip him the exact moment her fingers clasp his hand. Like some overly eager pup, he's hopping out the cab with her and glad for the cool air again. It was getting rather ... hot in there. He watches as the driver leaves, still holding her delicate hands. Darien is rather struck by this simple touch. He forgot what he even felt like to entwine fingers. It was comforting, it was lovely. But the tenderness soon disappears as she explains what was to happen. In truth, he forgot that she had mentioned they might be here. Wait, did she mention it? His eyebrows wrinkle at her command. "Just leave you? That seems like the exact opposite of everything I've done so far."
He's not going to complain or judge her. In fact, in her current state she undoubtedly could take out several groups of men or more. Darien would simply be in the way. A liability. With a sigh and a shrug, he nods in agreement but he's very clear but not liking it. Plus the look she was giving, he could tell she wasn't someone you argue with. Returning to their 'this is my drunk girlfriend' position, he thinks he sees what warehouse she's pointing to. Rusty, graffiti .. but everything is rusty and graffitied. "Um, yeah, I see the building."
As they begin to walk, even Darien starts to feel uneasy. He felt as though they were silently being stalked. For him though it was just the unfamiliar neighborhood. The darkness of the night, Vhal's injuries, the worry of being caught. His heart starts to race when those feelings of being hunted, the fear and pain come washing back from the memories of the Hunter. He even begins to speed walk a little with her under his arms, just wanting to get off the street and inside where he'd feel secure. Alas, in typical fashion, trouble followed them much like it always followed him. He's roughly shoved forward suddenly, and looking back at her, he sees a man coming out from the unsteady light. She yells at him to run and for a second he doesn't. He stupidly wants to be brave and help, but after seeing her put that man on the ground in just effortless grace, he sees that she was right (and didn't need his help with this).
Darien wastes no time and begins to run like a fool towards the warehouse. "Fuck, fuck, fuuuuuuck!" Somewhere in the blind rush, he hears a thud and the sound of gurgling from a man. Vhal was still kicking ass and taking no names. Only fuck, what is going on!? Curiosity compels him to look over his shoulder and faintly, though merely as shadows, he can see she was following him and was engaged in two men. Well, one now as Mr. Thud was on the cold concrete taking his final breaths. Holy shit she killed him! Darien reaches the doors, or at least he prays it is the right doors, and like a panicked idiot he tries to open it but can't. Vhal comes racing, slamming into it. She is successful, naturally, and Darien can see the last man coming at them like a rabid dog. He's shoved inside thankfully, because he was like a deer in headlights.
Stumbling and almost falling on his knees. Finally able to breathe, sweaty just from that short burst with his lungs and chest hurting, he paces back and forth in front of her and the door. Hands on his hips, lightheaded, her words aren't very comforting through the pounding. "Holy fuck Vhal," trying to talk through each labored breath, "you ... are a badass!" Okay, so Darien probably should have been concerned instead of awe struck. He stares at her with wonderment and admiration in his eyes. Then, he starts to laugh lightly. "Is it wrong if I say that was .. fun?"
