East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

No One Can Touch Me

I know I should have some sympathy when it comes to losing friends, but my friends was really my family. I lost my parents. After all the good deeds they did for the world, for humanity, they were murdered in one night. No longer would they be able to make a difference. We didn't stay in one place. I was lucky to travel with them and see the world. I was able to take part in their philanthropic activities. It was fun, it was rewarding, and I enjoyed my time doing something that actually made a difference. Sure they traveled and made their speeches, but they spent more time out in the field actually working rather than spending time at galas or meetings. I learned at a very young age that my job was to provide others with a service and that I would never do anything just for myself. I think it is good that at a very young age I saw both the horror and wonder of the world and the people that live in it. We traveled an awful lot so friendships for me came and went, and there were times when I was sad about losing a good friend. We'd keep in touch, but many of my friends lived in underprivileged areas, and so line of communication was so rare. Sure, there were children that belonged to dignitaries and diplomats and at galas I would see them, but they were...well...I didn't like being around them. Whatever friends I made, I knew it wouldn't last, but that didn't mean I couldn't cherish them.

I do find it interesting though that my Uncle never informed me about his affections for this witch. I really ought to find her and ask her â€" is this natural or did she put a spell on him? Either answer will result in a tidal wave of questions, so really and truly, this witch should be ready for a very very long conversation. I am pleased when I manage to make Alexander crack a small grin. Really I am an awful delight to be around in. At least that is something my Father would say, and Mother would say...every now and then...when I wasn't doing something embarrassing. I nod my head, reassuring him that indeed such a fine title as 'Emperor' would serve him well...and the world I think. Though really such lofty visons should really be left alone in dreams, and speaking of dreams, I really ought to be going. I know in the South there are stables and I think I'll be able to spend the night there...if I can manage to shift into a horse. If not I could spend the night in the loft, maybe talk to the manager and see if I can manage to live there and work there to earn my keep. I'll be old enough soon to take hold of my family's trust...I just need to wait a few more years, then I'll be okay. My thoughts about new living arrangements stops for a moment when he speaks about industrial dishwashers, with a small shrug I respond kindly.

"I know how to use a normal dishwasher."

It's his title for me 'Were-girl' that causes me to grow still for a moment. Part of me understands he is calling me out by species and gender, because he does not know my name. However, the other side of me is annoyed greatly and I think I ought to say something. I watch him carefully as I try to squash that part of me that simply would not tolerate being called simply 'Were-girl.' I had a name, thank you very much, and really he ought to have asked me for it. So, I will allow him this one moment to call me in such a way, because it is late and I have obviously overstayed my welcome.

"My name is Calliel. As for what I do with my days? I don't have classes anymore, because I have my degree so I'm done with school. So, I wander around and do what I please. As for what I intend to do with my life now that I'm a Were-Horse. I don't know, I thought by being a part of a pack I'd be doing something with them, or for them, but I guess I was wrong. My Alpha gives the others tasks, except me. So, I just try not to do something stupid, and you know, make sure I never bite anyone."

I manage to throw him a small smile. I thought it was rather funny. In all honesty I really don't have much to do or anything really. I just go through life as myself and every full moon go through the process of shifting into an extremely larger and more powerful body. I should slowly start to be able to transition all by myself without the full moon, but that takes practice and time and well, I've been trying both. I am curious though what he has in mind. I mean I am part human and part animal and I'm not quire sure if being a Were makes my life extend or not, but Im here still breathing so I guess that is better than being dead. Although being dead would mean I might actually see my parents again, if one believes in the afterlife, but I shouldn't think such dark thinks. So, I just stare back at the immortal historical figure and pry gently into what he was thinking, I'm really not interested in replacing the industrial dishwasher for the rest of my life.

"What did you have in mind? If it was for me to help you take over the world, I'm in!"

Is it sad that I'm mentally singing some stupid cartoon about the two mice trying to take over the world...
