East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

If you play, you play for keeps

It seemed to settle upon her heart, the deep dark depression that always lurked within the shadows of her mother's room. The sight of her, so frail against the sharp beeps of the machines were haunting and after two hours of time spent talking and recapping her life she was worn out, emotionally and physically. Gathering her cups and snack wrappers she tidies the room, casting one last forlorn look toward her comatose mother before slipping out the door.

Cassy, the desk attendant, waved at her on the way out, warning her about the rain. A little rain did not bother her, oh no, it was just what the doctor ordered as she leans against the glass door to the hospice. The cool bite of the glass a sharp contrast to the warm rain as it pelted her face. Having expected another warm day she was only clothed in blue jean shorts and a pink t-shirt with roman inspired sandals, so she was quickly speckled. Her long hair hung loosely about her neck and shoulders as she sighs, a heaving breath meant to calm the prickling of her eyes. She would not cry, at least not yet.

Pushing off, she trots down the steps and onto the sidewalk. Guilt plagued her...her fault...her fault her mother could not live the life she craved. Her fault...stupid stupid girl. A hand comes up to swipe at the few renegades as they trail down her cheeks to mix with the rain, anger bubbling forth at her body betraying her resolve. Why?! Why did life give you everything only to take the one thing that meant the most? Yes her mother was still alive but there was no guarantee that she will awaken, she might as well be dead and it was all her fault.

So caught up in her grief she doesn't see the male before her, and all too quickly she will either run into him or attempt to not run into him. Either way she will find herself on her tail end, a shocked gasp of surprise leaving her lips as she peers up at him through the hazy rain. One could say he was handsome yet he was too obscured by the falling sheet of moisture to be sure, besides she was quickly becoming drenched in her prone position.

"Great...just great!"

She screeches to no one in particular, having reached her limit on emotional control. Throwing her hands up she slams them down into the water slicked pavement. Oh stupid girl. Crying out she brings both hands to her chest, whimpering in both pain and embarrassment. Tears now freely fell down her cheeks as she shakes her head, bringing her knees to her chest so that she could bury her head. It no longer mattered that her hair was plastered to her head, or that she ran a risk of catching a serious cold. It didn't matter that the young man she may or may not have ran into would probably think she deranged. Her life was a veritable pit of hell and she created it with just one party.

"Go ahead, kick me while I'm down...I'm used to it."

Her voice is murmured into the confines of her knees, her fragile state not even allowing her to lift her head an inch.
