East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Anastasia Romanova
Had she been gifted with the talent to peel back the veil of secrecy and peer at the naked, gruesome truth of a person's innermost mullings Anastasia would have proclaimed herself quite unsurprised to find that he was considering the possibility of having to end her life. Were they not, after all, predators even as they were prey? In the dawn of her transformation the Russian damsel had been understandably perplexed at the idea of risking extermination in pursuit of the errands inherent in this new life. Time, however, had a decidedly influential and insistent hand; time and Alexander's guidance had seen the Grand Duchess blossom even beneath the permeating shade of her new circumstances. And now fear could rarely find her for the talent she possessed to elude it. Besides, she was not without her own physically-defensive prowess despite the litheness of her frame; after all... she had an exceptional teacher.

"I am not certain that you do, and it's quite rude to assume," her voice is nearly a purr, the curling sweep of her accent transforming even this admittedly mundane proclamation into something almost erotic. The Grand Duchess' features, however, remain poised, distant, the undeniable force of a habit sown into the fabric of her demeanor all those decades ago. Ode to another life, as it were. She is unmoving even as he regales her with the painfully-abbreviated tale of the manner in which he had landed upon the roster of the Council's "most wanted". It is a peculiar thing that he seeks to gauge her reaction to the mention of his Master's murder, for surely no Hunter should harbor an aversion to the task of homicide... and surely not those as seasoned as they appeared to be. And so, as is her custom, Anastasia offers naught more than the slight pitching of an expertly-manicured brow and a simple, "I'm sure they weren't. They never are."

What follows is not unexpected, yet to presume that it was welcome was a matter yet to be decided. Hers was a gift and a curse as all affinties were at some point in their utilization. Crossroads existed upon the winding, labyrinthine avenues of any ability; Anastasia's had proven no exception from the very moment she had discovered its existance It began as it always had, a blossom of electric sensation at the base of her neck and then... images, words, the details came in varying forms dependent upon factors that even now she could not rightly pinpoint. She understood details as if she were reading the blueprint of a person's entire life, the all-encompassing complexities of their respective situations known to her in a matter of moments.

"Yes you are," she delivers flatly, her tone baring notes of neither judgement nor accusation. "But, I wonder, what makes you mindless, William?"
