East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

In Henry's mind, if clarity wasn't coming when he was sober, he figured why not try understanding all this shit when he was completely drunk off his ass. He could already feel the warmth of the whiskey overcoming his senses, but it still wasn't enough to make things clear. He finished that glass and ordered another. Luckily, the bartender was paying attention and warned Henry that he was not allowed another drink in his establishment. Asshole. Didn't he realize that there was something that only the alcohol could help him understand?

The words that left the stranger's lips were no less confusing. Now, he was talking about him going feral or some shit. It didn't make any sense to Henry. Though really, nothing made much sense to him. He was dying to truly understand anything. He was grasping at straws but unfortunately, not grabbing hold of any one of them. And then he was talking about how he should have been there. Why? Why was he even concerned about "being there" when Henry supposedly "shifted". Nonsense. Maybe this was just a sick joke.

Henry joked with him, trying to make it sound like turning into a cat was completely ridiculous. However, instead of rolling with the joke, the stranger next to him went with it, quickly informing Henry that he was a jaguar, not just a cat. Henry practically gawked at him. How the fuck did he know that? And how was he so sure the black was transferred to him? "What are you talking about? I don't even know you...I can't possible get anything genetically from you. You aren't my father." Poor Henry didn't really understand that the man before him kinda was his father...at least a little bit.

But the fun didn't end there.

It was the firm "look at me" that caught Henry's attention. Even though he really didn't want to look at the other, there was something in him that forced his body to comply. It was a strange feeling that Henry couldn't describe or control. His eyes slowly turned to lock onto the other. Blue eyes met green in a trance that Henry couldn't pull away from. The stranger spoke again, speaking about a yappy dog â€" Sparkles. Yes. He had been chasing Sparkles when he had run into a large black cat-like shadow with green eyes. Those green eyes were awfully familiar to the green eyes currently looking at him. It was eerie how familiar they were. "It was my neighbor's dog. I was just trying to catch him before he ran away. I remember seeing something in the alley...something with eyes similar to yours." Poor Henry still wasn't connecting the dots. His inability to believe that weres existed was prohibiting his ability to connect the dots. He was unable to see that the man in front of him was the same shadow that had bitten his hand.
