The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

we were born with nothing
well we sure as hell have nothing now
The man slowly leaned his head back against the wall, his chest still rising and falling with a steadiness of utter exhaustion. He hadn't the faintest idea of what had happened to him, much less the conclusion of that fight. He wasn't sure what was happening to his pack, or that beast beneath his skin, or those affinities he so struggled to call to his aid. His world had quite literally turned upside down upon him and in that moment, he found himself seeking some measure of comfort in the only place, and indeed the only individual, he had complete and untainted trust within. It was the only safety he knew of. He was hardly prepared to face Frost again, of that he knew and though he so yearned to rescue those members of his makeshift family from any oppressive hold they might have fallen under, some measure of patience would be required if he so yearned to be victorious. The whole prospect of it all made him feel sick. He could hear the sound of feet upon the floor of the hallway outside, the sound entirely muffled. Fuck. He had to move. He had to keep his presence here as secretly as possible.
He shifted slowly, his body refusing to move nearly as much as he wanted to. His muscles and bones ached with a residual hurt that he still struggled to fully ignore, the man wincing ever so slightly before his emerald gaze shifted upwards towards that slowly opening door. There was a soft breath of relief that left his lips at the sight of the woman that stood there in front of him, nearly frozen in place by his simple presence alone. His hand gingerly reached out to her, as if beckoning her to his side. He hardly expected the fashion at which she approached him in a flurry of emotion, so falling to her knees with a look across her features that he couldn't quite place. His eyebrows furrowed as her hands reached out to him, that singular word so echoing in the quietness of that space and yet, that look of unspilled tears caused his head to tilt to the side ever so slightly in a hint of confusion. What had happened that had brought her such sorrow? There was an exhaustion to her features, a puffiness to her eyes that seemed to suggest she'd spent most of her time of late simply crying.
"Isolt?" He inquired, his voice holding a hint of hoarseness from those new vocal cords having never before been used prior to that moment. His lips pressed together, making an attempt to clear his throat ever so slightly before he started again. "Is everything okay? Is Damon....?" He paused, letting that question trail off with a hint of uncertainty. It hadn't crossed his mind that such desolation was caused by him. Nor was he truly aware of how particularly long it had been since that day upon the docks with Frost before him and Samantha behind him. He reached out, his fingertips gingerly brushing against her cheek as he leaned forward with no small measure of effort. It was an effort to so reassure her in whatever fashion he possibly could, even though he wanted little more than to pull the girl into his arms till those sobs ceased and that redness all but disappeared from the waterline of her entrancingly lovely blue eyes. And yet, despite those underlying wants, he hardly acted upon such desires. After all, as far as he knew Isolt still had her lover and that was a relationship he hardly wished to taint for the girl. She deserved something wonderful where he had utterly ruined everything good in her life. That was one thing he was determined to not destroy. And so, instead, he merely remained there, waiting with some measure of patience for any indication from the woman as to what she might so need from him in that breathless moment.
