The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It had been a rough day.
Though, Elanora would classify a lot of her days as rough. For someone who really didn't enjoy people, it was hard for her to run her shop even on the best of days. Too often she'd have naive supernaturals and even stupider humans that thought that some magic potion would make their lives better. She hated every single one of them. And yet without their money, Elanora wouldn't be able to live.
Today, however, had been a rough day for an entirely different reason. She hadn't even noticed until a customer had asked for the date, and the realization had poured down upon her. It had ten years to the day since the death of her parents, and the very thought of it almost had her collapsing right there at the register. It was the kind of day that was so typically spent curled up in her bed with the world shut out to her. That she had forgotten, even for a moment... It was unforgivable. Her parents deserved better than that. Her parents deserved her memory. They were wonderful to her, and what had happened made her ache each and every day. That she could forget even for a second that pain was something she could never forgive herself for.
It was that alone that had her closing the shop early. She simply couldn't stand to be there any longer. The shop would reopen tomorrow, and Elanora would pull herself from the bed and move on with her life. But for today, she couldn't handle it.
She'd just slipped out of the store, the key turning in the lock when she heard the woman's voice behind her. Timidly, Elanora turned to look at the small brunette. "Oh, um." She said, the snarkiness lost out of her voice as she regarded the woman. The weight of the world today seemed to have cracked Elanora at the edges. What harm was one more customer, really? She turned the key in the lock once more, pushing the door open. "Come on in. Just don't ask too many stupid questions."
