The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Apartment set up? Check. Nyx's food dish full? Check. What's left to do? Kira gazed around her new apartment at the various boxes that still needed to be thrown out. She grimaced at the thought of having to take multiple trips down those damn stairs and ultimately decided that they could stay for just a little longer. It had been three days since her aunt had delivered her to Sacrosanct and the young woman had yet to see much of the city. Perhaps that's what today's agenda would consist of. The black kitten meowed loudly, as if she were agreeing with Kira's thoughts. Smiling, she gave the animal a scratch behind the ear. "You know, if I didn't know any better I would think you actually could read my mind. Maybe I'll make a true familiar out of you yet."
The black kitten only purred quietly. It hadn't been Kira's idea to get the beast when she moved. But Aunt Marla insisted that if she were going to be a full blown witch out in the world, she needed a familiar to protect her. It was tradition the women of her family always have a black cat living with them so, after a quick stop at a local shelter, Nyx had come to be Kira's companion. The little cat quickly grew on the girl. Familiar or not, they were inseparable. Giving Nyx a final pet, Kira gathered her phone, keys, and wallet into a small belt pouch (another strange family tradition) before locking her new home and heading out the main building.
Living on a small farm didn't necessarily mean that Kira wasn't used to being in large cities. However, Sacrosanct was nothing like she had ever been to! It was alive, breathing like an angry monster ready to roar. The cars, the people, the very air was thick. On more than one occasion, she had to take a small break and escape to a park or back alley somewhere just to be free of the constant hustle. Still, it was rather enjoyable to see all the different shops and stalls that were selling certain wares. It wasn't much of a secret that this city drew a... particular crowd. It had been the main reason why Kira had chosen Sacrosanct as her new home. The magical energy was simply buzzing all around her, making her feel both anxious and excited. It was so powerful she was sure even the humans could feel it. Surely they couldn't be that dense to not to.
Walking along a side road, a peculiar shop stood out from the others surrounding it. There was no sign, leading the young woman to believe that it must have only just opened. A new store for a new member of the city! How fitting. Crossing the street, Kira moved to the door and gently pulled it open. The smell of herbs hit her at once and she was suddenly reminded of Aunt Marla's kitchen. The older witch had been rather skilled with potions, something Kira hadn't mastered at all, and had filled her home to the brim with different flowers and roots. This store seemed to be no different. Browsing the unique items, the young woman hadn't realized that the owner of the store was watching her closely as she marveled at each of the wares on the shelves.
