East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Chizue had hardly expected those metal cards to react so eagerly to that simple brush of Kohl's fingertips across that shiny surface, that abrupt movement caught the girl entirely off guard, that thick slam of the card into that skull across the room was certainly loud enough to prompt a scream of surprise from her lips. Her hands immediately clasped over her mouth as she shrank backwards ever so slightly, aware entirely of the sound that had left her mouth and the way in which the store's owner glared at them with such utter hatred for so utterly ruining her merchandise. The young girl's dark chocolate eyes shifted from the man at her side to the skull across the room, watching as he eyed the playing cards within his hand with suspicion. At the very least, it seemed as if those cards were certainly...proficient in their ability to so be utilized as a weapon, after all, the damage done to that skull was certainly noteworthy to say the least. The young girl shuffled quickly as he moved to cross the store, nearly stepping in his shadow with a quite clear anxiety in the way she glanced nervously at the shop keeper. It was, perhaps, silly to think Kohl might be able to protect her from that woman's glare and yet, for whatever reason, she certainly viewed the man as her relative safety in the given situation.

She watched as he reached for the sharpened edge, clearly intending to attempt to pull the card from where it had become lodge within that bone. "Be careful." The girl whispered softly, her gaze lingering with a hint of clear concern as he tugged at that metal surface. That skull seemed rather unwilling to release that metal card altogether and for a brief moment, the girl could hardly help the panic that gripped her heart. What did they do now? Her gaze shifted upwards towards him, both expecting Kohl to get them through this and, at the same time, entirely surprised when he turned to face the elder woman at the desk to announce he wanted to purchase both items. It certainly seemed to be a fair enough of an exchange and silently, Chizue joined him at the checkout stand, her fingers toying with the hem of her shirt in a subtle but entirely clear display of her nervousness. Such uncertainty, however, only magnified at the sheer price the lady across the counter repeated to them. Her chocolate eyes widened, the girl entirely unable to help the small squeak the left her lips as her gaze shifted between the pair and yet, she found herself equally as astonished at the ease with which he pulled out those dollar bills, presenting them to the older woman as if it was but pocket change and, perhaps to him, it was.

Chizue could hardly hold back the soft sigh of relief as the pair emerged from the store, the young girl remaining at his side as they made their way to the nearest alley. "Let's not go back in there again, okay?" She uttered, glancing up at him as he placed the skull on the dumpster before them. The demure vampire stood by quietly as he tugged at that metal surface. Her head tilted to the side as he commented on those metal cards, her head bobbing ever so slightly in response, "I wasn't very sure either...but...you said you could do credit cards so I thought it was worth the...oh! Good job!" She clasped her hands in front of her in a soft clap as he finally yanked that card free, "I think they suit you nicely." There was a warm simper upon her features as she watched him carefully push the metal cards into his back pocket and slowly, her own gaze turned back towards that skull. What to do with that?

A glimpse of surprise crossed her features as Kohl gestured towards the skull and for a brief moment, Chizue found herself terribly...torn. She hardly wanted the dead creature in her bedroom and yet, to say no was certainly the epitome of bad manners. "I..." She started, "I'm....sure it would look...lovely on my bookshelf." Chizue tried, still eying it with a hint of weariness before her gaze flickered towards the man at her side. His inquiry of so walking her home saw her shake her head ever so slightly, those dark ebony locks shifting with the gesture. "Thank you for joining me Kohl, I enjoyed your company." She responded, every bit genuine before she continued, "I should be fine I think...thank you." That empty townhome was, after all, just down the street and, quite frankly, Chizue was rather uncertain she truly wanted the man to see her attempt to wrestle with that skull.
