East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

At first she seems so happy to see me that I almost feel appreciated. It's almost a heart warming feeling but of course I never trust those. So instead I push it away and resort to my favorite pastime...bars. Luckily for us, there's one literally right around the corner so I usher Isolt toward it, sure by the look in her eyes that she's hungry. I don't know how this happened and I'm sure she's not taking it very well. How can she? Her maker is nowhere to be seen and she acts like she hasn't eaten human blood ever. It's not healthy for a young vampire to be so hungry. That's how towns get destroyed in one night. Fortunately for her, she found me.
Her eyes almost look untrusting at my comment, as if she doesn't understand how I would know. I smile gently. Of course. She doesn't know what I am. She looks hesitant to go to the bar but finally she hugs herself and follows after. I'm patient so I walk slowly, waiting for her to catch up. Does she not like bars? She seemed like a party girl in the making at that concert but I know from experience that looks can be decieving. She follows me into the bar and takes a seat across from me but she looks wary and unsure. I make an order and wait for the drinks, noting the curiosity in her eyes. She's in for a real treat. The moment the bartender sets the drink down, I can tell that I was right about the feeding. I can practically see her throat drying up at the sight of the blood.

She seems hesitant at first, looking at me as if for guidance so I don't hesitate to give her the command, and I chuckle under my breath at her question.

"Yes, in front of everyone. They'll just think you're enjoying a nice red wine. Now go on, dig in."

I watch with satisfaction as she drains the glass in seconds. I knew she was hungry. She apologizes almost immediately, her hand flying up to her mouth and I shake my head.

"For what? You did nothing wrong, Isolt. Believe me, this a lot better than my first feeding."

I say in a low tone, so sure that the other patrons are too distracted by the football game on TV and the food under their faces to pay attention. When she thinks back to my question, her reaction is instant. She cringes into the leather behind her. I throw up my hands in a surrender gesture.

"Okay, fine. We don't have to talk about it."

At her turn-around question, I pause for a minute, contemplating what to tell her as I tilt my head. Finally I shrug.

"Let's just say we have more in common than you think. I didn't have anyone to show me the ropes either. Wouldn't want you to end up like I did, huh?"

I give her a sly smirk and wink as I nudge my glass toward her.

"You must be hungry. Drink. You won't like the side effects if you don't."

I scowl, knowing full well what happens to a vampire who can't or won't drink. They shrivel up ike prunes. Not a pretty sight.
