East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The day I left; 2000 something

Motorcycle revving. The slip of hands putting the helmet over a face and then gloves going on the same hands. Backpack? Check. Couldn't lose that. It had most of what I had in it. For the exceptional gun that stayed in my waistband at all times where nobody could see it. Anything could happen, thus keeping it on me. Look both ways. Nothing coming? Now I can go. I picked up speed as I continued; speeding down the highway not really knowing where I was going, all I knew was I couldn't stay here. I couldn't stay with him. I spent years here already, training, getting ready for pretty much nothing. When I found my chance to leave; there I went. Off to who knows where, doing who knows what. All that went through my head was getting out of there. So that's how I got here, speeding down the interstate to get to wherever I was going. Not a care for anything or anyone is what I wanted. Would I get that? Probably not. He would probably hunt me down since there's no doubt he heard my bike when I took off. It was just a matter of time. Lost in my own thought, not really paying attention to the road ahead of me. Or the truck full of human males next to me trying to get my attention. Time to speed up.

Fast forward to now. Just as I was arriving in this place; it was weird. This place wasn't on the map and it looked pretty big. I slowed down enough to be able to keep just one hand on the handles, looking up and around, smiling as big as I could beneath the helmet. Pushing the visor up to see better, piercing blue eyes could be seen from a distance if I turned towards anybody. Revving the engine as I continued on; pulling the visor down and headed towards downtown. Pulling up into a little alleyway, figuring it was the best place to park my bike; away from prying eyes and where nobody could knock it down. First came the gloves, then the helmet. Stuffing the gloves into a motorcycle jacket pocket and carrying the helmet into the place that had a sign that read "cat's meow"

One foot placed in front of the other as I looked around my surroundings; I was rather short so it's not like I could see very much anyhow. To one side of me there was a stage, people and other types of species in the tables; watching the dancers on stage. Turning my back to them, I walked straight to the bar, the bar tender looking over at me raising their eyebrow as if to ask what I wanted. Uh, can I get a mai tai please? my vocals matched my physique, short and sweet. At a first glance at least.

It wasn't long before they had my drink out, taking a sip; I handed over money for it plus a little extra. I guess it helped ransacking my mentors house. Chuckling to myself, taking another drink and looking down at the drink; not really sure where to go from here or what to do from here. I guess I'm on my own. The words just kinda slipped out, closing the curtains to my piercing blue portals; resting my head on my hand while my other hand rested on my drink.
