i used to rule the world
seas would rise when i gave the word
It was lucky truly, that any dissonance amongst the staff at his relationship with the young were was kept well under the radar and certainly not done within his own view. The Dark Hunter was so rarely willing to stand any sort of slight against the female he'd decided to pursue, even amongst his own employees. Unfortunately, he'd hardly spent as much time within those walls of late as he should have, the man recently prone to being preoccupied with any number of affairs and yet, it was always the cafe and Alexis herself that he returned to. After all, he had little intention of missing that first date the pair had planned much less to fulfil those promises he'd made to her to teach more aspects of that business than just serving the coffee. It was that effort that wholly occupied his attention tonight. His gaze remained steady upon that register they stood in front of, the hunter entirely content to watch the way her fingers moved across the screen in an effort to ring in that fake purchase, all the while his hand remained settled upon her hip. It was easy to tell Alexis' patience for that machine was wavering from the way she near squirmed at the lightest brush of his hands. It was hardly difficult for Alexander to discern exactly what sort of thoughts preoccupied her mind, thoughts that Alexander was perhaps equally as willing to entertain.
He pulled the young woman from that register, turning her to pull her attention back to him. It was in a near teasing fashion he inquired after her excitement of their date tomorrow, much less that wardrobe choice that had seemingly occupied much of her thought the moment he'd taken the woman up on her suggestion of horse riding. Alexander was hardly surprised to find the young woman was nervous over that new experience though he was quick to shake his head at her concern. "You being a were shouldn't change a thing. I promise, I won't put you on a horse with such a bad temperament. If those creatures can remain still with a parade going on around them, I think they can deal with little old you." He leaned forward, letting his nose brush lightly against hers in an equally as tender of a show of affection. "And if you suck it..you can just ride with me and then all you have to do is sit there and look pretty and enjoy it." That rare grin momentarily pulled at the edge of his lips, those often more warm and gentle sides of his persona were pulled from the depths of that icy exterior by very few souls in this century - Alexis was surely one of those.
The Macedonian King watched the way that smirk seemed to flutter across her features at the mention of her wardrobe, his own eyebrows rose in an entirely inquisitive fashion and yet, he hardly expected that answer he was given. "A little less?" He repeated in an altogether questionable fashion, the man almost unable to imagine what was once a timid, shy woman stepping into the public view with such little clothing. Then again, she had fully satisfied those carnal needs within him in the local park all the same, perhaps he shouldn't be as surprised. His lips parted, fully intending to answer her only to be interrupted by the ringing of that small bell attached to the front door. His gaze rose slowly and yet, that figure that stood within his doorway only served to see his eyebrows furrowed. She'd returned. That only meant one of two things - she'd either come to tell him of her success in her latest endeavor, or to inquire after his help. That flick of that sign and that Russian retort back to Alexis prompted little more than a small sigh from the aging man, his hands slowly falling from Alexis' figure as his attention turned to face whatever this newest issue in his life would consist of. He was, perhaps, not wholly surprised by that glance that seemed to pass over her features at the presence of the were, after all, the number of souls he'd
dated since Anastasia's creation was decidedly few.
"Anastasia, this is Alexis." He stated, his introduction decidedly brief and to the point as he gestured lightly at the young woman beside him. "Alexis, this is my daughter, Anastasia." That title he gave the woman was hardly wholly accurate. After all, there certainly was no blood relationship between the two and yet, Alexander had
made her all the same. He had crafted her into a fine huntress, he'd overseen every facet of her training in that life after her royal status as a Duchess. In some fashion, she was as much his as he was hers. His attention turned towards that fallen royal, his tongue so naturally switching to that Russian he knew well they alone would understand. "Vy nashli to, chto iskali?" (Did you find what you were looking for?). Although Anastasia had attempted to keep him well in the dark of her activities of late, he was hardly one to stay that way for long, the man entirely willing to venture into his own sort of investigation, even if he merely sat on the sidelines whilst she continued about her business under that guise of independence. What could he say? Alexander had always been distinctly protective of his things.
